"Main Reason Was...": Priyamani's Response To Those Who Call 'Article 370' As "Propaganda"
'Article 370' continues to do well at the box office. Here's what Priyamani had to say to those who are calling the film “propaganda”

'Article 370', starring Yami Gautam and Priyamani, continues to do well at the box office, and the new Hindi film is nearing the Rs 30 crore mark at the box office. The new Hindi movie, which is based on the abrogation of 'Article 370', which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, minted Rs 3.25 crore on Tuesday, which was the fifth day of its release. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 29.40 crore.
In the latest entertainment news, Priyamani has reacted to those people who are calling 'Article 370' a "propaganda" movie and she also shared the main reason why she decided to be a part of the new Hindi film.
Speaking to News18, Priyamani said that earlier she was "one of the ignorant ones" as she did not know much about the abrogation of Article 370.
“Some people are going to say, ‘Oh, this is raising awareness. People need to know these stories.’ And then, there’s always going to be a section that will say, ‘This is absolutely propaganda.’ When we took on this film or when we decided that we wanted to be a part of this film, I think the main reason was that we wanted to tell people, ‘Listen there’s something like this which has gone down in history and not many people know about it’," she said.
"I’m sure people knew about it but they didn’t know what people went through, what steps were taken to see to it that this mission was a success," she added.
Priyamani also spoke about how she did not know much about the abrogation of 'Article 370'.
“I was one of the ignorant ones. It was very insensitive of me. I was not privy to such things earlier. I had thought to myself, ‘Okay, great, the article is abrogated’ but I didn’t know the gravity of it. Today, I do,” she said.
For the unversed, 'Article 370' is directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale. The new Hindi film is backed by Jio Studios and Aditya Dhar’s banner B62 Studios.
The drama is "inspired by true events that shaped the fate of Kashmir”.
Apart from Yami Gautam and Priyamani, the film also stars Arun Govil, Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Skand Thakur, Ashwini Koul, and Kiran Karmarkar.
