To understand the weight of this announcement, one must look back at the unprecedented impact of ‘Saiyaara’. Released last year, the musical romance defied all box office projections to become a trailblazing hit. Made on a modest budget, the film went on to collect a staggering Rs 329.73 crore nett in India and approximately Rs 570 crore gross worldwide, setting new benchmarks for the romantic genre in Indian cinema.

Beyond the numbers, the film birthed a new era of stardom for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Their chemistry was so crackling that Gen Z fans quickly dubbed them ‘Ahneet’, and the duo recently swept the Breakthrough Stars awards at the Chetak Screen Awards 2026. The film’s soundtrack similarly dominated streaming charts for months, proving that Mohit Suri’s knack for blending soulful music with raw emotion remains unrivalled.

For director Mohit Suri, this project marks a significant chapter in his career. Not only is he reuniting with his ‘Saiyaara’ tribe, but he is also continuing his association with the YRF banner. Mohit Suri, known for his ability to tap into the darker, more consuming side of love, expressed his excitement about returning to the genre that defines him.

“It’s always been love stories for me: overwhelming—when emotions are so unbound, self-consuming and become impossible to ignore. Love is supposed to be felt intensely, and that’s why I naturally gravitate towards this as a storyteller. The film explores this unabashedly,” Mohit Suri stated in a press release.

Despite his string of successes, Mohit Suri admitted to feeling like a "newcomer" again, fuelled by a renewed creative hunger and an anxiety to ensure the music touches people once more.

The untitled project is expected to be a cinematic experience that blends heartfelt storytelling with the kind of unforgettable melodies that have become a hallmark of Mohit Suri’s filmography. The production is scheduled to go on floors later this year, with the makers eyeing a grand worldwide theatrical release in 2027.

While fans eagerly await this reunion, both Ahaan and Aneet have packed schedules ahead. Ahaan Panday is currently busy filming an action-romance under the direction of Ali Abbas Zafar. Meanwhile, Aneet Padda is venturing into the horror-comedy space with Maddock Films' upcoming project ‘Shakti Shalini’.
