Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan’s cook Dilip has turned into an internet personality ever since she began featuring him in her cooking vlogs and YouTube videos. While his banter with Farah Khan initially won hearts, the latest video on her channel has sparked criticism, with several viewers calling out Dilip’s “overacting” and repeated interruptions. The recent vlog featured veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar and actor-writer Shabana Azmi, who gave viewers a glimpse of their beautiful home in Khandala.

However, instead of focusing on the star guests and their stories, a section of the audience felt that Dilip’s constant interjections disrupted the flow of the conversation.

In one moment from the video, when Farah and Shabana sat down for a chat, Dilip suddenly stepped in and said, “Irshad, irshad!” prompting Farah to jokingly ask him to return to the kitchen. Later, as Shabana began explaining that the massive trees inside their property are around 150 years old, Dilip interrupted once again, quipping, “Ma'am, aapse bhi puraane hai.”

These interruptions did not go down well with many viewers, who took to the comments section to express their frustration. One user wrote, “In today’s video, Dilip was very irritating… by doing this you will lose your audience.” Another commented, “Shabana mam was trying to explain about the 100-year-old tree, and you made Dilip interrupt. I don’t like this at all.”

Several viewers pointed out that this wasn’t an isolated incident. “The only thing I don’t like about this channel is that they always interrupt guests while they explain something serious about them. The facial expressions of the guests say it all. Please Farah Khan, let them speak,” read one comment. Another viewer added, “Farahji, please don’t use Dilip in every scene. This time I literally had to forward the video. Your channel is great, but these constant interruptions are making me lose interest. I wanted to see more of Shabana ji.”

While some clarified that they still liked Dilip, they felt his screen time had become excessive. “We love Dilip, but now it’s too much. Please let the guest speak. Sweets are good, but not in overdose,” one comment read. Another bluntly stated, “Pls Dilip ka screentime kam karo.”

Meanwhile, one user reflected on the irony of internet fame, writing, “Ab logon ko Dilip bura lagne laga—ye wahi log hain jinhon ne famous kiya. Reality of the world.”

Farah Khan has previously shared that she started her cooking vlogs while waiting to begin work on her next film. She began her YouTube journey in 2024, and the videos gradually gained popularity, largely due to her humorous banter with Dilip. The cook soon became a fan favourite and an internet sensation, leading to multiple brand advertisements alongside Farah. Dilip has also made appearances with major stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, cementing his unexpected rise to fame.
