Ayushmann Khurrana experienced an emotional full-circle moment on ‘Indian Idol’, performing on the very stage where he was once rejected during his struggling days.
It is a classic tale of poetic justice and hard-earned success in the entertainment world. Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana recently experienced a deeply emotional full-circle moment on national television. The actor and singer graced the stage of the hit reality singing show ‘Indian Idol’, but this wasn't just a standard promotional appearance. For Ayushmann, it was a profound return to the very same platform that had “rejected” him during his early days of struggle.
On Wednesday, the actor shared a heartfelt glimpse of his live performance on the show with his fans via Instagram. Armed with a guitar and his soulful voice, Ayushmann treated the audience to a live rendition of the track ‘Dil Wale Chor’ from his latest theatrical release, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’.

Reflecting on the surreal nature of the moment, he captioned his post: “This is the extended version of Dil Wale Chor (reprise), which I performed on Indian Idol. The same stage which once rejected me during my struggling days. Surreal. Thanks for loving the song. Thanks for loving the film. #PatiPatniAurWohDo running successfully in cinemas!”
The magnetic performance left the show's judges, Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Dadlani, thoroughly impressed, with both seen enthusiastically cheering him on and enjoying the musical treat. The magic of his voice even earned an applause from legendary veteran actress Helen, who was present during the episode. Furthermore, his ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ co-stars – Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Wamiqa Gabbi – appeared absolutely smitten by his melodic vocals.
Fans were quick to flood the comments section with overwhelming love and praise. Celebrating his diverse skill set, one fan commented, “Mind-blowing, Ayushmann ji. Multi-talented.” Another admirer weighed in on the vocal rendition, stating, “Aditya Rikhari is okay, but Ayushmann's voice in Dil Wale Chor is just wow...” Others felt a sense of musical nostalgia, writing, “Mitti Di Khushboo vibe,” while another dedicated fan added, “I don't know how your voice is so comforting and magical... Love you, AK.”
Ayushmann’s journey to this triumphant moment has been nothing short of inspiring. He initially started his career by winning the second season of MTV Roadies before transitioning into television anchoring. He eventually broke into Bollywood with his acclaimed film debut in the 2012 hit ‘Vicky Donor’, paving the way for a career filled with back-to-back hits.
Currently, the actor is starring in ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, alongside Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Released in theatres on May 15, the film has garnered mixed reviews from critics but continues to pull numbers, collecting Rs 32 crore worldwide and Rs 27.14 crore net in India so far.
Looking ahead, Ayushmann is set to step into some massive shoes. He will next be seen in Sooraj Barjatya's highly anticipated upcoming film, ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’, opposite Sharvari in the lead role. Backed by Rajshri Productions, the film sees Ayushmann taking on the iconic character name of Prem – a legacy famously essayed by superstar Salman Khan in blockbuster Barjatya hits like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. Fans can look forward to seeing this brand-new Prem when the film hits theatres on November 27, 2026.
