The teaser of ‘Chand Mera Dil’ introduces Ananya Panday and Lakshya in an intense and emotional love story.
The wait is over for fans of intense, dramatic love stories. On Tuesday, makers officially unveiled the much-anticipated teaser for the upcoming romantic drama ‘Chand Mera Dil’. Starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya in the lead roles, the film promises a rollercoaster of emotions, navigating the high-stakes world of passionate young love that ultimately takes a tragic, messy turn. Slated to hit theatres on May 22, 2026, the film is already generating massive buzz – though not all of it is entirely positive.
The gripping 1-minute-32-second teaser introduces audiences to Aarav, played by Lakshya, and Chandni, played by Ananya Panday. The footage immediately establishes an intense, slightly wild campus romance, capturing their deep connection through intimate moments, kissing scenes, college corridor encounters, bike rides, and cozy bedroom shots.

The film's overall tone is perfectly encapsulated by its central tagline: “Pyaar mein thoda paagal hona hi padta hai”.

However, the sunny disposition of first love quickly clouds over. The teaser heavily hints at a darker, more heartbreaking narrative as their relationship proves to be fragile. In one defining moment, Ananya's character declares that they have a “legendary love story,” to which Lakshya grimly replies that legendary love stories always have a tragic ending. This foreshadowing is backed by emotionally charged visuals of vulnerability, featuring Lakshya breaking down and screaming, while Ananya is seen crying her heart out.
‘Chand Mera Dil’ marks the first-ever on-screen collaboration between the two young stars, both of whom have deep ties to Dharma Productions. Ananya made her feature film debut with Dharma's ‘Student of the Year 2’ in 2019 and recently led their digital wing's web series ‘Call Me Bae’. Lakshya, on the other hand, made his explosive feature debut in the Dharma-backed 2024 actioner ‘Kill’ and was last seen in Aryan Khan's web series, ‘The Bads of Bollywood’.
Behind the camera, the film is directed by Vivek Soni, known for his work on ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’ and ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’. Vivek Soni also shares story and screenplay credits with Tushar Paranjape, while the dialogues are penned by Akshat Ghildial, Tushar Paranjape, and Soni. The movie boasts a massive producing team, backed by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra, and Marijke deSouza. Adding soul to the tragic romance is the film's title track, teased in the promo, composed by the hit musical duo Sachin-Jigar, with heartfelt lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya and vocals by Faheem Abdullah.
Despite the glossy production and intense visuals, the internet has had a polarized reaction to the teaser. Across social media platforms, netizens were quick to draw comparisons between ‘Chand Mera Dil’ and ‘Saiyaara’, which coincidentally starred Ananya's cousin Ahaan Panday alongside Aneet Padda. Users flooded the comments sections, dubbing the new film "Saiyyara 2.0" and outright accusing it of copying.
One user commented, "Did they try to recreate Ahaan and Aneet's bike scene or am I delulu," while another boldly stated, "Saiyara + Kabir Singh + Aashiqui 2 = chand mera Dil." Viewers also critiqued the lead pair's dynamic, with one comment reading, "Saiyaara was a blockbuster not bcuz of the story but bcuz of ahaan and aneet natural chemistry but u guys failed to create chemistry." Another sharply added, "Kissing scenes is now just like hug scenes."
With its official logline teasing, “Not every first love, gets a second chance. Come witness Aarav & Chandni's road to love!”, the film has certainly captured the internet's attention. Whether the Ananya-Lakshya starrer can overcome the criticism and deliver a truly memorable cinematic heartbreak remains to be seen when ‘Chand Mera Dil’ arrives in cinemas this May.
