Watch: ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Mania Grips IPL 2026 As Suryakumar Yadav Teases Jasprit Bumrah With Film’s Viral Dialogue
After Jasprit Bumrah's wife Sanjana Ganesan, Suryakumar Yadav pulled his leg with the famous ‘Dhurandhar’ dialogue.
The intersection of Bollywood and the Indian Premier League (IPL) has always produced golden moments, but in 2026, it is a specific cinematic phenomenon that is taking over the cricket field. The Mumbai Indians (MI) locker room recently became the centre of attention not just for their clinical victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), but for a hilarious exchange that proved ‘Dhurandhar 2’ fever is very much alive and well among India's elite athletes.

Following MI's win over KKR on Tuesday, team owner Nita Ambani was seen celebrating with the squad in a video posted by the franchise. As she praised the star bowler – fittingly dubbed ‘Boom Boom Bumrah’ – for being the best bowler of the night and pinned a badge on him, star batter Suryakumar Yadav couldn't resist the urge to pull his teammate's leg.

Mimicking the now-iconic dialogue from the film, Suryakumar Yadav jokingly asked, “Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi, Jassi?”
The locker room, including Nita Ambani and a smiling Jasprit Bumrah, erupted in cheers and laughter. The moment was a direct nod to the viral interval block of ‘Dhurandhar 2’, which has become a cultural staple since the film's release.

Interestingly, Suryakumar Yadav wasn't the one who started this trend within the Bumrah household. The “Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi” joke actually began in March, courtesy of sports presenter and Bumrah’s wife, Sanjana Ganesan. She took to social media to share a meme that put a domestic twist on the film’s intensity. The meme featured Udaybir Sandhu, who plays Pinda in the film, and a caption about Bumrah planning a “boys’ night” instead of staying home. Sanjana’s light-hearted jab at her husband went viral, setting the stage for his teammates to keep the joke running throughout the IPL season.

The film at the heart of this craze, ‘Dhurandhar 2’, has been making headlines for its staggering box office performance. Directed and written by Aditya Dhar, the sequel has shattered records. It continues the gripping story of spy Jaskirat Singh Rangi (alias Hamza Ali Mazari), played by Ranveer Singh, as he infiltrates a Baloch gang in Lyari, Pakistan.
The commercial success of the franchise is unprecedented. While the first ‘Dhurandhar’, released in 2025, collected a massive Rs 1300 crore worldwide, the sequel has already surpassed those heights. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has officially crossed the Rs 1400 crore mark, securing its place as the first-ever Bollywood film to reach such a milestone.
The star-studded cast, featuring Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Gaurav Gera, and Danish Pandor, has clearly struck a chord with the global audience.
Even Bumrah has leaned into the craze himself. In a recent promotional video, the cricketer recreated the movie’s famous interval block. The promo shows Bumrah washing his face while a teammate asks him the signature question, mimicking Ranveer Singh's intensity. With the IPL 2026 season in full swing and ‘Dhurandhar 2’ continuing its dominant run, it seems the worlds of sports and cinema have found their favourite new point of intersection.
