Yash’s fierce first glimpse as Raya from ‘Toxic’ unveiled.

The wait is finally over for Yash fans. To celebrate the actor’s birthday today, the makers of the highly anticipated gangster saga, ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’, have unleashed the first official glimpse into its dark, violent world. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the teaser introduces Yash’s character, Raya, with the heavy-hitting declaration: “Daddy’s home.”

Check out the teaser of ‘Toxic’ here:

The teaser doesn't hold back on the grit. It opens with a sombre funeral scene at a cemetery, which quickly shifts into high gear as a car arrives. After an intimate moment inside the vehicle, the protagonist emerges shirtless before donning a sleek black overcoat.

Amidst a haze of fog and cigar smoke, Raya is shown brandishing a weapon and opening fire on the grieving family at the funeral. The footage leans heavily into a dark, stylized aesthetic, with the makers captioning the reveal: “Get a good look at your danger - Introducing RAYA…”

Marking Yash’s 19th film as a lead, ‘Toxic’ is a period gangster film co-written by the actor himself alongside Geetu Mohandas. The project is a joint production between KVN Productions (Venkat K Narayana) and Yash’s own Monster Mind Creations.

The film boasts a massive ensemble cast, including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi, Sudev Nair and Rukmini Vasanth.

Social media is currently a battlefield of opinions regarding the teaser. Many fans were floored by the production value, comparing it to Quentin Tarantino films and praising the "Pure Hollywood vibes" coming out of the Sandalwood industry. Supporters believe the film is aiming for a global market rather than just domestic success.

On the flip side, some viewers found the visuals "artificial" or "low-budget," with a few even comparing the style to ‘Badass Ravikumar’ or suggesting the scenes looked AI-generated. Critics labelled it as having "too much style, zero substance."

The conversation quickly shifted to the impending theatrical clash on March 19, 2026. ‘Toxic’ will go head-to-head with Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’, starring Ranveer Singh.

While ‘Dhurandhar’ is currently breaking records at the box office, the sequel is highly anticipated as it explores Hamza’s (Ranveer Singh) backstory and his takeover of Lyari. The sequel features returning stars Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi.

Online comments are already leaning toward a "clear win" for ‘Dhurandhar 2’, with some users claiming it will "wipe the floor" with Toxic. However, with Yash’s massive fan base and the unique “A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups” branding, March 19 is shaping up to be one of the biggest Fridays of the year.
