The internet can be a brutal place, but Tollywood's power couple Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are refusing to take the latest wave of online toxicity lying down. Following the intense backlash triggered by their recent appearance on ‘Koffee With Karan Season 9’, the team representing the married couple, popularly known as ‘Virosh’, has officially taken legal action. A formal complaint has been physically submitted to the Hyderabad Cyber Crime authorities by P Nishanth Kumar, the manager of both actors.
According to the team's press release, the complaint seeks an impartial investigation into the deliberate spread of false narratives, fabricated content, manipulated screenshots, impersonation, and targeted online harassment directed at the couple. The celebrity couple’s team submitted supporting links and evidence, urging authorities to probe whether this is part of a coordinated or paid campaign.
Emphasising that this move isn't about restricting genuine criticism, the team stated, "While we fully respect freedom of speech, individual opinions and the right to express criticism, there is a clear distinction between expressing an opinion and presenting fabricated, manipulated or materially misleading claims as facts." They added that appropriate legal remedies will be pursued for each instance of potentially unlawful content.
The controversy ignited after the couple discussed their relationship trajectory on Karan Johar's couch. Rashmika recalled proposing to Vijay at an airport with a simple, "Let's get married," to which Vijay famously replied, "Okay, you ask me 100 times." Rashmika revealed it took a year of conversations to convince him. Social media erupted, with netizens branding Vijay a "red flag," accusing him of disrespecting his wife, and claiming Rashmika was more invested in the relationship. Resurfaced past interview clips added fuel to the fire, with viewers speculating about a different side to the actor.
In a powerful eight-page statement on Instagram, Rashmika did not hold back, calling the critics an "angry mob looking for someone to vent at." Addressing the proposal debate, she clarified, "First, it was never about the number of times or an entire year... The conversation was about him wanting both of us to take the time and space to understand each other." Defending their dynamic, she noted, "I am all heart and he is the thinker - and we need that in each other's lives." She proudly declared, "I am OBSESSED with my man. When did that become a bad thing?" and added, "I would do it a thousand times - 100 is nothing."
Rashmika also fiercely called out the unsolicited advice from female content creators, labelling it as bullying disguised as feminism. "To some of my sweet girls out there... making reels in the guise of concern for a fellow woman, asking me to run... Thank you. Truly. But I wish some of you had been there a couple of years ago, when things were really, really hard. You weren't there. HE WAS and HE IS even right now," she wrote, finding it "creepy" that people believe random internet narratives over her own truth.
Vijay Deverakonda echoed her sentiments with a pointed and unfiltered social media post featuring a video and photograph with Rashmika. Reaffirming their strong bond, he wrote, "My best friend, my wife, my woman. One of the most beautiful parts of my life that I got absolutely right. For all those concerned, We are both gloriously happy. I am blessed. If its me and her against the world - so be it. Big love to all those who celebrate love and the simplicity of living happily.”
The couple, who first sparked chemistry in the 2018 hit ‘Geetha Govindam’ and 2019's ‘Dear Comrade’, kept their romance heavily guarded for years before tying the knot in a dual Telugu and Kodava ceremony in Udaipur on February 26, 2026.
Most recently seen together in the 2026 movie ‘Ranabaali’, Vijay and Rashmika have made one thing crystal clear: they have chosen "US," and trolls will now have to answer to the law.
