Thalapathy Vijay's 'GOAT' is set for a bumper opening at the box office as the advance booking is going through the roof.

Tamil superstar Vijay, fondly referred to as 'Thalapathy', is gearing up for the release of 'The Greatest of All Time' (GOAT). The Tamil movie is slated to release in cinemas on Thursday, September 5. The advance booking for the film is going through the roof, and the Thalapathy Vijay-starrer is now looking to register a staggering Day 1 collection at the box office worldwide. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, 'GOAT' has sold more than 8,00,000 tickets for the opening day, grossing more than Rs 17 crore. 

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'GOAT' has so far sold 8,62,015 tickets for the opening day, grossing Rs 17.47 crore. 

Out of these 8,62,015 tickets, the Tamil version has sold 8,21,346 tickets. The Hindi and Telugu version have so far sold 14,308 and 26,361 tickets, respectively. 

'GOAT' has already emerged as the Tamil film with the biggest advance booking numbers in 2024, surpassing Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2'. 

Pinkvilla journalist Himesh Mankad also stated that the Tamil movie is slated for a bumper opening at the ticket counters. 

"GOAT SET FOR ARRIVAL - PHENOMENAL ADVANCE BOOKINGS ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE - THALAPATHY VIJAY RETURNS," Pinkvilla journalist Himesh Mankad wrote on X (formerly Twitter). 

"#GOAT is set for a grand release tomorrow all across the globe with outstanding pre-sales. If #VenkatPrabhu delivers a formidable film, get ready for the records to come down over the coming weeks. #ThalapathyVijay #GOATTheMovie," he added.

For the uninitiated, 'GOAT' is Vijay's first film after his announcement of entering into politics. 

'GOAT' is also one of the costliest films made this year with a reported budget of around Rs 400 crore. 

The film also features Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, and Yugendran in important roles.
