Jr NTR Says Audiences Are “Constantly Judging” Films As ‘Devara’ Goes Past Rs 250 Crore
Jr NTR has seemingly reacted to the underperformance of ‘Devara’ at the box office.
Koratala Siva's latest directorial 'Devara: Part 1', starring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor continues to mint respectable amount of money at the box office. But one cannot deny that the pan-India film has fallen short of the expected commercial performance. Considering 'Devara' is Jr NTR's first film after the blockbuster 'RRR', fans were expecting similar returns. ‘Devara’ also marked Saif and Janhvi’s Telugu debuts. But the film opened to mixed response from critics and viewers alike. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Devara' earned Rs 4.50 crore across all languages on Tuesday, the 12th day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 253.25 crore.
Jr NTR has now seemingly reacted to the underperformance of the film at the ticket counters. During an interview, organised by the makers with Jr NTR and Koratala Siva, the actor, as per India Today, said, “We as an audience have become very negative these days. We are not able to enjoy a film in an innocent manner anymore.”
“When I watch my sons, they don’t care about what actor or what movie they are watching; they just enjoy movies. I wonder why we are not able to be that innocent anymore? Every film today, we are watching it to analyse. We are all constantly judging, analysing and overthinking about films. Maybe our exposure to cinema has made us like this,” he added.
Speaking of 'Devara', the film has gone past the Rs 400 crore in terms of worldwide collection. However, the box office performance, pales in comparison to Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan-starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD'.
The recently released Telugu movie also stars Shine Tom Chacko, Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, Srikanth, Narine and Murali Sharma.
The magnum opus is produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts and presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram.
