'Naatu Naatu' won Best Original Song at Oscars 2023.

When 'RRR' had released in theatres in 2022, no one would have expected that a Telugu film song will make the country proud at the grandest stage of them all - the Oscars. 'Naatu Naatu' did the unthinkable on Sunday as it picked up a win at Oscars 2023, making it the first song from an Indian production to win an Oscar. The song defeated the tracks sung by bigwigs like Lady Gaga and Rihanna to pick up the accolade.

Earlier, 'Naatu Naatu' had won the Best Original Song at Golden Globes 2023 as well. However, if you thought that the song has hit its ceiling, then you could not be further from the truth.

Now, in a spell-bounding stat, it has emerged that after picking up the win at Oscars 2023, 'Naatu Naatu' has witnessed a huge spike in terms of streams on US Spotify.

The official handle of Pop Crave has said that the song has witnessed a spike of more than 900 per cent on US Spotify.

"Naatu Naatu" increased by over 960% in streams on US Spotify after winning Best Original Song at the #Oscars," the handle of Pop Crave tweeted.

Composed by M.M Keeravani, ‘Naatu Naatu’ was competing with Rihanna's 'Lift Me Up,' 'This Is a Lie by Mitski, David Bryne, Lady Gaga's 'Hold My Hand’, and Diane Warren's 'Applause’.

‘Naatu Naatu’ not only became the first ever Telugu song to win an Oscar but also become the first song from the industry to be performed at the Oscars. The live performance at Oscars 2023 by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava received a standing ovation.

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who was one of the Oscar 2023 presenters, introduced the performance of ‘Naatu Naatu’ during the prestigious event.

Talking about ‘RRR’, the movie stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Shriya Saran, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, among others. The film tells a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters -- Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, with Ram Charan and Jr NTR playing the lead roles.

The film collected over Rs 1,200 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films.
