According to several reports, both Ranbir and Vicky are playing Air Force officers in the period romantic drama. Several pictures from the sets went viral last year, hinting at a 1960s setting for the film. The finer plot details remain under wraps. The film marks the reunion of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranbir Kapoor after 'Saawariya', released in 2007, which clashed with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's 'Om Shanti Om'.

Earlier, Alia Bhatt had opened up on working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and collaborating with artists like Ranbir and Vicky. During her appearance at the Milan Fashion Week as a Gucci ambassador, Alia shared, "I am working on a movie currently called Love & War. It is a film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. We are at the tail end of filming. It has been quite a magical experience. Working with Sanjay sir is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I am so grateful that I get to do it.”
The film marks Alia's second collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 2022's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', for which the actress won a National Award. On the other hand, it is the first time that Vicky Kaushal is working with SLB.
This would be the second time that the real-life couple Ranbir and Alia will be sharing the screen together. They had earlier starred in Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva'. The project also marks the second collaboration between Ranbir and Vicky and Alia and Vicky, respectively.
Ranbir and Vicky shared the screen in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Sanju', while Alia and Vicky starred together in Meghna Gulzar's 'Raazi'.
