‘Ramayana’ Glimpse: Karan Johar, Siddharth Anand Hail Ranbir Kapoor’s First Look As Lord Rama
Ranbir Kapoor’s first glimpse as Lord Rama in ‘Ramayana’ has sparked massive buzz, with Karan Johar, Siddharth Anand and Alia Bhatt leading the wave of praise.
The much-anticipated first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor from Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus ‘Ramayana’ was unveiled on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti today. Ranbir’s first look as Lord Rama promises a visual extravaganza of an unprecedented scale. The first glimpse of this two-part saga has garnered overwhelming praise from fans and film industry heavyweights alike. Leading the chorus of appreciation were filmmakers Karan Johar and Siddharth Anand, both of whom took to social media to express their admiration for Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation.

Karan Johar noted that Ranbir Kapoor “embodies Lord Rama with divine reverence and piousness,” highlighting a specific moment where the actor turns upon hearing his name in the first look video.

Siddharth Anand was equally emphatic, calling the teaser “SPECTACULAR”. He praised Ranbir Kapoor for nailing the role and expressed his eagerness to celebrate Diwali 2026 on the big screen. Siddharth Anand also lauded director Nitesh Tiwari’s craft as “awe-inspiring” and credited producer Namit Malhotra for delivering on his ambitious promises.

Ranbir Kapoor’s wife, actress Alia Bhatt also praised him. In a clip from a virtual interaction with fans, Alia was seen sharing her excitement about the ‘Rama’ glimpse. She said, “Ramayana unit is going to be out tomorrow. It is the unit called the Rama unit. I'm going to be posting it on my social media, so again, please go out there and support it.”

She further spoke about Ranbir’s performance and added to fans’ excitement, saying, “It's absolutely fabulous. I think Ranbir has just done such a beautiful job and I just can't wait for you guys to see it. It's just out of this world.”
Other celebrities, including Sargun Mehta and ‘Dhurandhar 2’ actor Danish Pandor, also joined the wave of support, hailing the teaser as a landmark moment for Indian cinema.
During a screening in Los Angeles, Ranbir Kapoor shared that he initially rejected the role when it was offered to him four years ago, feeling he might not be able to do "full justice" to such an iconic figure. However, he described the birth of his daughter Raha as a turning point that changed his perspective on life and lifestyle, ultimately leading him to embrace the role of Lord Rama with gratitude.
With a reported combined budget of Rs 4,000 crore for the two-part film, ‘Ramayana’ is one of the most expensive projects in Indian history. The technical prowess is further bolstered by a legendary musical collaboration between AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
The film features a powerhouse cast: Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Sai Pallavi as Sita, cementing this as one of the most ambitious projects in modern entertainment history. Earlier, the introduction video was unveiled from the film.
The first installment of this cinematic journey is scheduled to hit theatres during Diwali 2026, with Part II following in Diwali 2027.
