Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain's fusion band 'Shakti' scripted history on Monday as they bagged the Grammy for Best Global Music Album. In the latest entertainment news, the band won the accolade for their latest album titled 'This Moment'. The official social media account of Grammys shared a picture in which Mahadevan and another member of the band, Ganesh Rajagopalan, can be seen accepting the award on stage.

In his acceptance speech, Mahadevan said, "Thank you boys. Thank you God, family, friends, and India. India, we are proud of you…Last but not the least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife whom every note of my music is dedicated to.”
For the unversed, album titled 'This Moment', had released on June 30, 2023. The album features eight songs which have been created by John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist).
The band was nominated for the Grammys with other artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido.
Talking about Zakir Hussain, he won another Grammy for Best Global Music Performance for his contribution to ‘Pashto’ alongside Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, featuring Rakesh Chaurasia - a virtuoso flute player.
Zakir Hussain eventually won three Grammys in one night while Chaurasia took home two awards.
For the unversed, the 66th annual Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles.
