Farah Khan revealed that Hrithik Roshan was supposed to star in her debut directorial ‘Main Hoon Na’.

‘Main Hoon Na’, which was released in 2004, marked Farah Khan’s directorial debut. It featured Shah Rukh Khan, Suniel Shetty, Zayed Khan, Kirron Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao, Boman Irani, and Satish Shah. The 2004 Hindi movie’s music was composed by Anu Malik. The soundtrack was a hit and included several popular songs like ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Tumse Milke Dil Ka’, ‘Gori Gori’, ‘Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha’, and ‘Chale Jaise Hawaien’. ‘Main Hoon Na’ was a commercial success as it grossed Rs 37.30 crore in India and Rs 70.40 crore worldwide.

The movie was praised for its entertaining blend of action, comedy, romance, and drama, appealing to a wide range of viewers. But did you know that we could have seen Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan sharing screen space in the 2004 Hindi movie?

Yes, you read that right. Hrithik Roshan was supposed to play the role of Laxman in ‘Main Hoon Na’, which was eventually essayed by Zayed Khan. Recently, Farah Khan made this big revelation during an interaction with Radio Nasha.

During the interview, Farah Khan was asked if Zayed Khan’s role in ‘Main Hoon Na’ was meant for Hrithik Roshan or Abhishek Bachchan initially. Answering the question, Farah Khan said, “It was a musical chairs situation to cast that role. Hrithik was supposed to do it initially because I was shooting Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai and saw him give his first shot and knew that he was going to be a star… I went to Rakesh Roshan and told him that. You can instantly make out. Rani Mukerji gave one shot in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and we all knew.”

She added, “That time I told Hrithik that I’d written a script and that he’d be the young boy… He was very excited. He said, ‘Shah Rukh will (work) with me?’ I said, ‘Of course!’ That was the dynamic. And then, obviously, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai was released, and Hrithik became a huge star, and the rest is history.”

For the unversed, Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan starred together as brothers in Karan Johar’s 2001 directorial venture ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.

Hrithik Roshan had made his acting debut with Ameesha Patel in his father Rakesh Roshan’s movie ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’.
