Thalapathy Vijay’s 'Leo' has turned out to be a huge money spinner!

Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo' starring Vijay in lead role, has turned out to be a huge money spinner at the global box office. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Leo' collected Rs 31 crore across India on Tuesday, taking the total domestic nett collection to Rs 248 crore. Globally, the new Tamil movie has gone past the Rs 450 crore mark, and hence, it is now the fourth-highest grossing Tamil film of all-time, only behind 'Ponniyin Selvan-I', 'Jailer' and '2.0'.

'Leo' has also become the highest-grossing film within Lokesh Cinematic Universe. The movie has now recorded bigger collections than 'Kaithi', and Kamal Haasan-starrer 'Vikram'.

For the unversed, 'Leo' had earlier delivered the second-biggest opening for a Tamil film, when it collected Rs 64 crore across India on day one.

The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directorial then recorded collections of Rs 35 crore on day two, Rs 39 crore on day three, Rs 41 crore on day four and Rs 35 crore on day five. 

'Leo' has already become the second-biggest Tamil film of 2023, the fifth-biggest Indian film of 2023, and the highest-grossing film of Vijay’s illustrious career.

On day six, 'Leo' enjoyed 65 per cent occupancy in the Tamil language and the movie collected Rs 21.5 crore in just Tamil Nadu. 

In Kerala, 'Leo' collected Rs 5 crore on day six while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions contributed Rs 3.5 crore. 

When it comes to Hindi, 'Leo' has made Rs 15 crore so far, despite not being screened in multiplexes due to a dispute. 

Upon its release, 'Leo' received mixed reviews. The cast of ‘Leo’ also includes Gautham Menon, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Trisha, Priya Anand, and Mansoor Ali Khan. Anirudh Ravichander of 'Jawan', and 'Jailer' fame, has composed the music for the film.

Arjun and Sanjay Dutt are playing the role of main antagonists in 'Leo'. It is not known whether 'Leo' is based on David Cronenberg’s 'A History of Violence', which had released in 2005.
