Bhai Is Back! 'Tiger 3' Becomes Salman Khan's Biggest Opener, Movie Registers Highest Collection On A Diwali Day
'Tiger 3' box office collection Day 1: Salman Khan has recorded his biggest opening ever, beating Bharat which had made Rs 42.3 crore in 2019.

Bhai is back with a bang! After a string of underwhelming performers at the box office, Salman Khan's latest release 'Tiger 3' has set the box office on fire. 'Tiger 3' directed by Maneesh Sharma, which also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi in leading roles, released in theatres on November 12, 2023 (Diwali Day), and as per industry tracker Sacnilk, the new Hindi movie has minted Rs 44.50 crore on the opening day of its release, across all languages.
'Tiger 3' collected Rs 42 crore in Hindi, while Tamil and Telugu versions also contributed Rs 2-2.5 crore, taking the total to Rs 44.5 crore.
The new Hindi film had an overall 41.33 per cent occupancy in the Hindi language on Sunday, and with November 13 being a holiday, 'Tiger 3' would once again look to register big numbers.
With this amount, Salman Khan has registered the biggest opening of his career, beating Ali Abbas Zafar's 'Bharat' in 2019 (Rs 42.30 crore) and Sooraj Barjatya's 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' in 2015 (Rs 40.35 crore).
For the unversed, 'Bharat' was released on the occasion of Eid while 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' hit the theatres on the occasion of Diwali.
For Katrina Kaif, 'Tiger 3' is the second-biggest opener, after Vijay Krishna Acharya's 'Thugs of Hindostan' in 2018 (Rs 52.25 crore).
'Tiger 3' has also registered the biggest collection for any Bollywood film on Diwali day. The new Hindi film has beaten the aggregated total of Rs 22 crore, which was the combined collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' (Rs 12.60 crore on day one) and Ajay Devgn’s 'Son Of Sardaar' (Rs 9.30 cr on day one), in 2012.
Hrithik Roshan's 'Krrish 3' previously held the record for the highest Diwali day collection by a single movie. The superhero flick had netted Rs 15 crore on Diwali Day.
However, 'Tiger 3's opening day collection is far behind Shah Rukh Khan-starrers Pathaan' and 'Jawan'. While, 'Pathaan' had collected Rs 57 crore on the opening day, 'Jawan' minted Rs 75 crore on Day 1 of its release.
For the uninitiated, 'Tiger 3' was released in theatres on Sunday (November 12), and the movie has opened to mixed reviews. Some of the critics have described it as the weakest film in the YRF Spy Universe.
However, looking at the audience response, it looks like, 'Tiger 3' has struck a chord with the masses. The single screens are performing better than multiplex, just like in the case of 'Gadar 2'.
'Tiger 3' also features cameos by Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan. The latter appears in the post-credits scene, setting up the events in motion for 'War 2', in which he will be sharing the screen with Jr NTR.
