'Stree 2' Registers Fantastic Monday Hold, Goes Past Rs 200 Cr In Just 5 Days
'Stree 2', starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has gone past the Rs 200 crore mark in just five days.
Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi-starrer 'Stree 2' is doing phenomenal business at the box office. The new Hindi movie, which released in cinemas on the occasion of Independence Day 2024, is showing no signs of slowing down at the ticket counters. The Amar Kaushik directorial has taken just five days to cross the Rs 200 crore mark, and it has now become only the third Hindi project in 2024 to enter the Rs 200 crore club, after 'Fighter' and 'Kalki 2898 AD'.
As per early estimates shared by industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Stree 2' earned Rs 37 crore on Monday, the fifth day of its release. It is important to mention that Monday was a partial holiday in India, owing to Raksha Bandhan 2024.
The total nett domestic collection of 'Stree 2' now stands at Rs 228.45 crore. Now, it remains to be seen how much the film earns on Tuesday, and it will give an idea about how much business 'Stree 2' might be able to do in its lifetime run.
On Monday, 'Stree 2' had an overall Hindi occupancy of per cent. It is fair to say that 'Stree 2' will emerge as the biggest Hindi grosser of 2024, going past 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani.
'Stree 2' opened to favourable reviews from all corners, and the box office collection just further consolidates the goodwill, the film has managed to find for itself among the audience.
For the unversed, 'Stree 2' had earned more than Rs 50 crore on its opening day, and then it followed it up with a slight dip in its earnings on Friday.
However, 'Stree 2' bounced back with over a 40 per cent increase on Saturday, earning Rs 43.85 crore, and then on Sunday, the film went on overdrive as it minted Rs 55 crore. For the unversed, 'Stree 2' also features cameos by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia.
As per several reports, 'Stree 2' has already recovered its budget; hence, the film is set to emerge as a blockbuster. For the unversed, 'Stree 2' has been mounted on a budget of Rs 120 crore, as per Pinkvilla.
The new Hindi film's performance becomes all the more remarkable, considering it clashed with 'Vedaa' and 'Khel Khel Mein'.
As per Sacnilk, 'Khel Khel Mein', which stars Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Pragya Jaiswal, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Aditya Seal and Vaani Kapoor, the new Hindi film earned Rs 1.90 crore on Monday. The five-day total now stands at a below-par Rs 15.95 crore.
On the other hand, John Abraham's 'Vedaa', which also stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhishek Banerjee and Tamannaah Bhatia, earned Rs 1.50 crore on Monday, the fifth day of its release. The five-day tally of the Nikkhil Advani directorial now stands at Rs 15.50 crore.
