‘Stree 2’ Beats Lifetime Collection Of ‘Drishyam 2’ And ‘Brahmastra’, Crosses Rs 250 Cr Mark
Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Stree 2’ has now gone past the Rs 250 crore mark at the domestic box office.

‘Stree 2’, starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi, is turning out to be a major money spinner for the makers. And the new Hindi movie, directed by Amar Kaushik, is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon at the ticket counters. ‘Stree 2’, which released in cinemas on Independence Day 2024, opened to positive reviews and this is translating very well in its box office collection as well. As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Stree 2’ earned Rs 25 crore on Tuesday, the sixth day of its release.
As a result, the new Hindi movie has now gone past the Rs 250 crore mark in India. The total nett domestic collection of ‘Stree 2’ currently stands at Rs 254.55 crore.
‘Stree 2’ has now beaten the lifetime collection of popular Hindi movies such as ‘Drishyam 2’ and ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’. For the unversed, ‘Drishyam 2’ had made Rs 240 crore in India while Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's 'Brahmastra', earned Rs 247 crore.
On Tuesday, 'Stree 2' had an overall Hindi occupancy of 32.98 per cent. It is important to mention that 'Stree 2' is just the third Hindi project of 2024 to enter the Rs 200 crore club.
It is fair to say that the movie will emerge as the highest Hindi grosser of 2024 in India, going past 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani.
For the unversed, 'Stree 2' had earned more than Rs 50 crore on its opening day, and then it followed it up with a slight dip in its earnings on Friday.
However, 'Stree 2' bounced back with over a 40 per cent increase on its first Saturday, earning Rs 43.85 crore, and then on Sunday, the film went on to mint almost Rs 56 crore. Then on Monday, 'Stree 2' earned Rs 38 crore.
For the unversed, 'Stree 2' also features cameos by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia.
As per several reports, 'Stree 2' has already recovered its budget. For the unversed, 'Stree 2' has been mounted on a budget of Rs 120 crore, as per Pinkvilla.
The new Hindi film's performance is all the more astounding, when you consider that it clashed with 'Vedaa' and 'Khel Khel Mein'. Both 'Vedaa' and 'Khel Khel Mein' have tanked at the box office. 'Khel Khel Mein' is now Akshay Kumar's fourth consecutive flop after 'Mission Raniganj', 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', and 'Sarfira'.
As per Sacnilk, 'Khel Khel Mein', which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Pragya Jaiswal, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Aditya Seal and Fardeen Khan, earned Rs 1.10 crore on Tuesday. The six-day total now stands at Rs 17.15 crore.
John Abraham's 'Vedaa', which also stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhishek Banerjee and Tamannaah Bhatia, earned Rs 0.60 crore on Tuesday, the sixth day of its release. The six-day tally of the Nikkhil Advani directorial now stands at Rs 16.10 crore.
