Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Peddi’ Beats Lifetime Haul Of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, ‘The Raja Saab’

'Peddi' has been performing exceptionally well at the box office.

Buchi Babu Sana's 'Peddi', starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in leading roles, registered a big drop of more than 60 per cent on its first Monday. However, the Telugu project stayed above Rs 10 crore across all versions, and the film is expected to cross Rs 175 crore on Tuesday. A big Monday drop is expected as the majority of the movie-going public heads to work, and a drop on the first day of the week is no surprise occurrence.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Peddi' earned Rs 12.05 crore on its first Monday, registering a sharp 62.50 per cent drop from Sunday's collections. The total five-day collection of the film now stands at Rs 169.70 crore, with the Telugu version contributing the most. The Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam versions are not performing so well.

'Peddi' had an occupancy of 28 per cent from 7904 shows. However, the film has beaten the lifetime collection of Aamir Khan’s 'Sitaare Zameen Par' ( Rs 167.46 crore). The film began its journey with Rs 18.50 crore collection from its paid previews in India. 'Peddi' then had a Rs 51 crore opening day and followed it up with more than Rs 25 crore collections on Friday (Rs 26.90 crore), Saturday (Rs 28.85 crore) and Sunday (Rs 31.90 crore).

The film has already beaten the lifetime hauls of Mahesh Babu’s 'Guntur Kaaram' (Rs 127.41 crore), Ram Charan’s 'Game Changer' (Rs 131.20 crore) and Prabhas’ 'The Raja Saab' (Rs 146.04 crore).

Speaking of 'Peddi', the film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani in key roles. The project is backed by several major production banners. It is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, co-produced by Ishan Saksena under IVY Entertainment, and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings.

Speaking of other films, Hollywood's horror flick 'Obsession' continued its momentum on Monday, the 11th day of its release, bringing in Rs 3.50 crore, double the film's opening-day collection in India (Rs 1.75 crore). The total 11-day collection now stands at Rs 39.60 crore.

However, 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' and 'Bandar' had disappointing first Mondays. The David Dhawan-directed film, starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, made Rs 4.13 crore on Monday, taking the total collections to Rs 27.50 crore.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Bandar' directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra, made Rs 30 lakh on Monday, taking the four-day collection to Rs 2.75 crore. The collection is on the lower side despite the favourable word of mouth from both audiences and critics.
