“1% Of Dhurandhar”: Varun Dhawan Trolled By Tanmay Bhat Over Box Office Numbers Of His Recent Films
Varun Dhawan recently appeared on Tanmay Bhat’s YouTube channel for a fun-filled video, which also featured Rohan Joshi, Piyush Sharma and Zakir Khan.
Aditya Dhar's box-office juggernaut 'Dhurandhar' is still being talked about, and the Hindi film has set a new benchmark for Indian movies at the box office. At first, the Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan-starrer 'Dhurandhar' broke all sorts of records and then new heights were scaled by the second instalment 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'. Such was the performance of both films that fans are now eagerly waiting to see which film comes close to Dhurandhar's feat.
It is safe to say that Dhurandhar's record is not going away anytime soon. Keeping the Aditya Dhar-directorial in mind, comedian Tanmay Bhat recently roasted Varun Dhawan, taking a dig at his recent box office record, seemingly hinting that it would be a great accomplishment if the actor's latest release 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' manages to register even 1 per cent of Dhurandhar's box office numbers. A video of the same is now going viral on social media.

Recently, Varun made an appearance on Tanmay's YouTube channel for a fun chat, and the duo was joined by other comedians, including Rohan Joshi, Piyush Sharma, and Zakir Khan. During the initial phase of the conversation, Tanmay drew comparisons between 'Dhurandhar' and other recent Bollywood releases.
“The amount of hard work you are putting in promoting the film (Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai) is commendable because it takes some kind of optimism to work this hard to get 1 per cent of Dhurandhar box office numbers,” Tanmay joked.
Hearing this, Varun laughed and replied, “I think post Dhurandhar we are living with this weight ki bhai hum bhi kuch na kuch karle.”
Speaking of 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai', the film marks the latest collaboration between father-son duo David Dhawan and Varun. The romantic comedy film also stars Mrunal Thakur, Pooja Hegde, Rakesh Bedi, Jimmy Shergill, Maniesh Paul, Mouni Roy and others in key roles. The film received mixed reviews from critics upon its June 5 release.
The film started its journey with a single-digit start at the domestic box office, making it one of Varun Dhawan’s lowest openings ever. 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' earned Rs 7.50 crore on Day 1 in India, lower than the actor's previous few releases, such as 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' (Rs 10 crore) and Baby John (Rs 11.25 crore).
Speaking of 'Dhurandhar', the film released in theatres on December 5, 2025, and 'Dhurandhar 2' followed on March 19 this year. ‘Dhurandhar’ and 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' earned more than Rs 3,000 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk. 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' became the second-highest-grossing Indian film ever, only behind Aamir Khan’s 'Dangal'.
