'Crew' Registers Third-Biggest Opening Weekend For Any Hindi Film In 2024

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon and Tabu-starrer 'Crew' is continuing to go from strength to strength at the box office. As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, the new Hindi movie minted Rs 10.25 crore on Sunday, the third day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of 'Crew' now stands at Rs 29.25 crore, while its worldwide is nearing the Rs 40 crore mark. As per Sacnilk, 'Crew' recorded a 29.23 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday.
With this, 'Crew' has registered the third highest opening weekend of 2024 for a Hindi film, only behind Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor's 'Fighter', and Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan's 'Shaitaan'.
Now, it remains to be seen how the new Hindi movie performs on Monday, and the business on the fourth day will indicate how much the movie might make in its lifetime. 'Crew' has free run until Eid 2024 to collect as much money as possible. On the occasion of Eid 2024, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Chote Miyan Bade Miyan’ will hit theatres.
For the unversed, 'Crew' is facing very tough competition from the Hollywood film 'Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire'. The movie which also released on Friday, collected Rs 13.50 crore on Sunday, the third day of its release. As per Sacnilk, the three-day collection in India now stands at Rs 39 crore.
Prithviraj Sukumaran's new Malayalam film 'Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life', which released in cinemas on Thursday, made Rs 8.50 crore on the fourth day of its release. As per Sacnilk, the four-day total now stands at Rs 30.10 crore.
Returning to 'Crew', the new Hindi film is crucial for Kareena Kapoor as her last theatrical release 'Laal Singh Chaddha' bombed at the box office. The movie, which opened with Rs 11 crore, was able to mint just Rs 60 crore in its theatrical run.
Apart from Kareena, Kriti, and Tabu, the new Hindi film also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma.
Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, the new Hindi movie is set against the backdrop of the airline industry. The new Hindi movie is co-produced by Ektaa Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, who are reuniting after the 2023 Bollywood movie ‘Thank You For Coming’.
‘Crew’ also marks the third collaboration between Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh after ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘Good Newwz’.
