“No Use Of Steroids…”: Kabir Khan Reveals How Kartik Aaryan Became ‘Chandu Champion’
Kartik Aaryan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Chandu Champion’, directed by Kabir Khan.
Kartik Aaryan, who made his Bollywood debut with the 2011 Hindi movie ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’, starred in a few mediocre films before his breakthrough role in ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’. Kartik Aaryan then continued to rise in the industry with movies like ‘Luka Chuppi’, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, ‘Dhamaka’, and ‘Freddy’. He also delivered box office hits like ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘SatyaPrem Ki Katha’. With each film of his, Kartik Aaryan tried to showcase his range as an actor as he picked diverse roles.
And now, Kartik Aaryan will be seen in Kabir Khan’s upcoming directorial venture ‘Chandu Champion’. This film will showcase him in a never-seen-before avatar as he will headline the sports drama. Ahead of the film’s release next month, director Kabir Khan took to Instagram and shared the second poster of ‘Chandu Champion’ along with sharing details about Kartik Aaryan’s physical transformation journey.

In the caption of the post, Kabir Khan mentioned that Kartik Aaryan's body fat was 39 per cent when he approached him for the role. Detailing Kartik Aaryan's drastic physical transformation, the director added, “A year and a half later with no use of steroids - something that he was adamant about - we took this photo on set. Body fat 7 per cent! I'm proud of you Kartik Aaryan.”
The second poster of ‘Chandu Champion’ is in black and white. It shows Kartik Aaryan in a never-seen-before avatar, flaunting six pack abs and a ripped physique. The actor can be seen in a fierce look inside the boxing ring, wearing gloves.
A day before, Kartik Aaryan had shared the first poster of ‘Chandu Champion’, where he was seen running in a ‘langot’, with his body drenched in sweat. Kartik Aaryan unveiled the first look from his upcoming film ‘Chandu Champion’ in August 2023.
‘Chandu Champion’ will narrate the story of a sportsman's resilience and determination. As per reports, the upcoming Hindi movie is based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist in freestyle swimming.
The upcoming movie marks Kartik Aaryan’s first project with director Kabir Khan, known for helming films like ‘Kabul Express’, ‘New York’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘83’.
Apart from ‘Chandu Champion’ which releases on June 14, 2024, Kartik Aaryan will also star in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ and Vishal Bhardwaj’s untitled next.
Kartik Aaryan will also be seen in an untitled project, backed by Karan Johar. The movie was announced last year on Kartik Aaryan’s birthday.
He is also expected to star alongside Triptii Dimri in an untitled romantic film, set to be directed by Anurag Basu. In an interview with Zoom, producer Bhushan Kumar spilled the beans about the upcoming film.
While there have been rumours that Kartik and Triptti will be working together for Anurag Basu’s ‘Aashiqui 3’, Bhushan Kumar revealed that they are “not making Aashiqui 3” right now.
Bhushan Kumar said, “The name ‘Aashiqui’ is not there for this film. When we were making Aashiqui 3, it was not working out. So, now we are making another romantic movie, which Anurag dada is directing. Kartik and Triptii are a part of it.”
