Ajay Devgn's 'Raid 2' dominated the weekend box office.

Ajay Devgn’s ‘Raid 2’ is on a stellar run at the box office. Following a strong start, the film gained further traction over the weekend, recording a sharp upward trend in collections. As per Sacnilk, ‘Raid 2’ saw a 50 per cent jump on Saturday with Rs 18 crore, and went even higher on Sunday with Rs 21.50 crore – its biggest single-day earnings yet. The film’s domestic total now stands at Rs 70.75 crore in just four days, positioning ‘Raid 2’ as the sixth highest grosser of 2025 so far.

It opened on Thursday with Rs 19.25 crore, followed by Rs 12 crore on Friday, before the weekend surge. Its first weekend alone brought in Rs 39.50 crore, putting it ahead of other biggies like Salman Khan’s ‘Sikandar’ (Rs 30 crore) and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari 2’ (Rs 22.75 crore). Even Sunny Deol’s ‘Jaat’ collected only Rs 23.75 crore on its first Saturday and Sunday.

A sequel to the 2018 hit ‘Raid’, this instalment has already surpassed its predecessor’s weekend haul of Rs 30.97 crore. The positive reviews and strong word-of-mouth seem to be driving audiences to theatres in large numbers.

With momentum on its side, the film is now aiming to enter the Rs 100 crore club. The Monday test will be crucial in determining how soon ‘Raid 2’ hits the milestone, especially before it faces fresh competition from ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, which arrives in theatres on May 9.

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta and produced by Panorama Studios and T-Series, ‘Raid 2’ features Riteish Deshmukh as the main villain, alongside Vaani Kapoor, Amit Sial, Yashpal Sharma and Saurabh Shukla in key roles. The film released on May 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, Sailesh Kolanu’s ‘Hit: The Third Case’ (Hit 3), starring Nani and Srinidhi Shetty, is also performing well despite a dip. After an impressive Rs 21 crore opening on Thursday, the film saw slightly lower numbers on Friday (Rs 10.5 crore), Saturday (Rs 10.4 crore), and Sunday (Rs 9.5 crore). Its extended opening weekend collection stands at Rs 51.40 crore.

Among other May 1 releases, Karthik Subbaraj’s Tamil action-comedy ‘Retro’, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, earned Rs 43 crore across all languages. While doing decent business, it’s trailing behind ‘Hit 3’ and significantly behind ‘Raid 2’.

However, ‘The Bhootnii’, starring Mouni Roy, Palak Tiwari, Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Singh, has flopped at the box office. The horror comedy has collected a mere Rs 3.19 crore since its release alongside on May 1.
