Ajay Devgn's 'Raid 2' Expected To Perform Decently At Box Office, Check Day 1 Advance Booking Numbers

‘Raid 2’, featuring Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Vaani Kapoor, is already generating major buzz as one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2025. Slated to hit theatres on May 1, the film has kicked off its advance booking with a strong response, signalling a promising start at the box office. For Ajay Devgn, who has faced a rocky run lately with underwhelming box office performances from ‘Maidaan’ and ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’, ‘Raid 2’ could mark a much-needed comeback. Fans and trade insiders alike are pinning high hopes on this gritty sequel.
As per trade website Sacnilk, 'Raid 2' has so far sold 59,693 tickets for the opening day, grossing Rs 1.69 crore. When one adds block seats into the mix, the collection swells up to Rs 3.13 crore.
‘Raid 2’ will have a real challenge at the box office as Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday's ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ is expected to fight it out with the film. The Ajay Devgn film will be heavily reliant on the positive word-of-mouth. Negative reviews might tilt the scale in favour of ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, which had opened to positive reviews and has been performing decently at the box office.
Marvel's 'Thunderbolts' is also slated to release in cinemas on May 1, and the Hollywood film is expected to pose a real challenge as India has always been a strong market for the superhero films. 'Thunderbolts' has also received a favourable word of mouth in the West and it is the most highly-reviewed film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since 2019's 'Avengers: Endgame'.
Speaking about ‘Raid 2’, Ajay Devgn will be playing the role of Amay Patnaik, an honest IRS officer who doesn't think twice before taking down the rich and powerful.
The film’s trailer, which released recently, showed how Ajay Devgn will make it his mission to take down a corrupt politician, Dada Manohar Bhai played by Riteish Deshmukh. Vaani Kapoor is playing Ajay Devgn’s love interest. Saurabh Shukla has also reprised his role after 'Raid' in 2018.
'Raid 2' has been directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, while it has been bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak and Krishan Kumar.
'Raid 2' is a sequel to the 2018 hit film 'Raid'. The original film was set in 1981 and told the story of an income tax officer in Lucknow who took down the powerful, corrupt politicians.
