Kangana Ranaut’s latest directorial ‘Emergency’, in which she plays the role of former India Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, crashed on its fourth day of release. On Monday, the new Hindi movie witnessed a massive 75 per cent dip in its collection. And it looks unlikely that ‘Emergency’ will be able to recover from this setback, considering Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s ‘Sky Force’ and Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s ‘Deva’ are slated to hit the theatres in coming weeks.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Emergency’ earned Rs 1.04 crore on Monday, marking a 75.53 per cent decline from its Sunday earnings of Rs 4.25 crore. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 11.39 crore.

On Monday, ‘Emergency’ had an overall occupancy of just 7.11 per cent in the Hindi market. ‘Emergency’ is trailing big time when compared to Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’, which also tanked at the box office.

On its first Monday, ‘Jigra’ had earned Rs 1.65 crore, as per Sacnilk and the film's four-day collection stood at Rs 18.25 crore, almost Rs 7 crore higher than ‘Emergency’.

It is important to mention that during the release of ‘Jigra’, Kangana Ranaut had taken a veiled dig at Alia Bhatt and ‘Jigra’ producer Karan Johar. Taking to Instagram Stories, she had said, “When you destroy woman-centric films and make sure that they don’t work, they don’t work, even when you make them. Read that again.”

The first Monday collection of ‘Emergency’ is better than Kangana Ranaut's last few box office bombs such as ‘Thalaivii’ (Rs 73 lakh), ‘Dhaakad’ (Rs 30 lakh) and ‘Tejas’ (Rs 45 lakh).

As per reports, the budget of ‘Emergency’ is around Rs 60 crore and with just Rs 11 crore in four days, the fate of the film is poised to be same as the actress’ last few releases. The film’s collection will be further dented this weekend as Akshay Kumar, Veer Pahariya and Sara Ali Khan's 'Sky Force' releases in cinemas.

‘Emergency’ had opened to mixed reviews by critics. However, the praise for Kangana Ranaut's performance is unanimous. Apart from Kangana Ranaut, ‘Emergency’ also stars Anupam Kher, the late Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry and Milind Soman. The movie has been backed by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films.

The Hindi movie marks Kangana Ranaut’s first solo directorial venture. Before this, she had co-directed the film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ with Krish Jagarlamudi.
