Years After Calling Him “Cockroach”, Kangana Ranaut’s “Irrfan Khan” Praise For Vikrant Massey And ‘12th Fail’
Kangana Ranaut has praised Vikrant Massey’s performance in ‘12th Fail’, after once calling the actor a “cockroach”.
Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey continues to receive praise from all quarters for his powerful performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘12th Fail’. The new Hindi movie released in theatres in October 2023, and despite clashing with Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Tejas’, the Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial minted more than Rs 50 crore in India. Recently, the film premiered on Disney+ Hotstar, and netizens have been going gaga over the film's portrayal of a classic underdog story. The 2023 Hindi movie, based on the true story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, also starred Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut recently took to Instagram Stories to praise Vikrant Massey and his performance in ‘12th Fail’. She also compared Vikrant Massey to late iconic actor Irrfan Khan.
Sharing a poster of ‘12th Fail’ on her Instagram Story, Kangana wrote, “What a terrific film. Coming from Hindi medium myself belonging to a rural village and being a general caste student for entry tests without reservations in my school years, I was weeping throughout the film, ufff never cried so much in a flight, my co-passengers were stealing concerned glances at me, I am embarrassed.”
“Vidhu sir has won my heart all over again, Vikrant Massey is beyond amazing!! In his coming years he might just fill the void Irfan Khan saab left behind...salutations to your talent dear one,” she added.

For the unversed, in 2021, Kangana Ranaut had called Vikrant Massey a “cockroach” after he playfully called his friend Yami Gautam “Radhe Maa” in one of the pictures from her wedding with Aditya Dhar.
Reacting to Vikrant Massey's comment, Kangana who seemed annoyed at him, ended up calling the actor a “cockroach”. This particular screenshot went viral when ‘Tejas’ and ‘12th Fail’ released in theatres on the same day.
The critics of Kangana Ranaut further spread the screenshot after ‘Tejas’ bombed at the box office, while ‘12th Fail’ turned out to be one of the sleeper hits of 2023.
Talking about ‘12th Fail’, the new movie is based on a book by Anurag Pathak and the film chronicles the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.
The new Hindi movie also highlights his journey and how his wife, IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, was instrumental in his rise.
For the unversed, Vikrant Massey is known for his work in Bollywood and web series. He began his acting journey in the television industry. His breakthrough came with the hit TV show ‘Balika Vadhu’.
Transitioning to films, he showcased his talent in movies like ‘A Death in the Gunj’, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and ‘Love Hostel’. He became a household name with his roles in ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Criminal Justice’ and ‘Chhapaak’.
