Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ Averts Clash With ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, New Release Date Out
Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ has averted the box office clash with Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's pan-India behemoth ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’.
‘Chhaava’, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna, was one of the most awaited Bollywood films of 2024. However, the makers have now officially announced the postponement, averting a clash with Sukumar’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, starring Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil and Rashmika Mandanna. ‘Chhaava’ was originally slated to hit theatres on December 6, 2024, but now the film has been postponed to February 2025. ‘Chhaava’, which is a historical drama, will now be releasing in cinemas on Valentine's Day 2025.
The announcement was made by Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh on X (formerly Twitter).

For the unversed, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ will be releasing in cinemas on December 5, 2024, and it is expected to shatter many box office records. Considering the hype for the Allu Arjun-starrer, the makers of ‘Chhaava’ probably decided to push the release ahead.
With ‘Chhaava’ averting clash with ‘Pushpa 2’, Rashmika Mandanna would have also breathed a sigh of relief as her two movies would now not be releasing on the same date.
‘Chhava’ has taken the release slot of Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s ‘Deva’. The movie, which was supposed to release in cinemas on February 14, will now hit theatres on January 31, 2025. The announcement was made by Taran Adarsh on X.

Coming back to ‘Chhaava’, it is a biographical drama on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the celebrated Maratha emperor and the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Laxman Utekar. The Hindi film stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
The title of the film is a reference to Sambhaji's nickname, which means ‘lion cub’ in Marathi.
Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Love & War' in the pipeline. Co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the Hindi film is slated to release in cinemas on Eid 2026.
Vicky will also be essaying the role of Chiranjeevi Parashurama in 'Mahavatar'. The Amar Kaushik directorial is slated to hit the theatres on Christmas 2026.
