Sunny Deol Expresses Desire To Work With Shah Rukh Khan Again Days After ‘Darr’ Re-Release
Ahead of the release of his upcoming film 'Jaat', Sunny Deol has expressed his desire to work with SRK again.
It is common knowledge that Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan had a falling out during the making of the uber-popular 1993 Hindi movie 'Darr'. The two Bollywood powerhouses didn't speak to each other for years. However, the duo buried the hatchet in 2023 when King Khan made an appearance at the success bash of 'Gadar 2' in Mumbai. Now, ahead of the release of his upcoming film 'Jaat', Sunny Deol has expressed his desire to work with SRK again.
During Pinkvilla's Masterclass, Sunny Deol was asked to name one actor he would like to work with again. It was then that Sunny Deol named Shah Rukh Khan. This comes days after the re-release of 'Darr' in theatres.
“Aise decide karna kiske saath karunga nahi. I mean, I would love to do it. I think anyone who is… Shah Rukh ke saath ek hi film ki thi. Toh ek aur kar sakte hain. It would be nice because that was a different period, and now it’s a different period, so definitely,” he said.
“Pehle humare directors had control over the whole thing. Aaj kal humare directors ke paas itna control nahi hai aur kahaniyaan waisi ban bhi nahi rahi hain, which will justify the images of the actors. Woh bahut zaruri hai,” he added.
For the unversed, SRK and Sunny Deol had a falling out after the late Yash Chopra gave Shah Rukh Khan's villainous character in 'Darr' more prominence than Sunny Deol.
Sunny Deol was not pleased with how a stalker character was glorified in the film when he was the actual hero. It is rumoured that both actors didn't speak to each other for 16 years.
During an appearance on 'Aap Ki Adalat', Sunny had said, “At the end of the day, people loved me in the film. They loved Shah Rukh Khan as well. My only issue with the film was that I did not know they would glorify the villain. I always work in films with an open heart and believe the person. I believe in working with trust. Unfortunately, we have many actors and stars who don’t function in this manner. Maybe that’s the way they want to get their stardom.”
Coming back to Sunny Deol’s work front, he will next be seen in 'Jaat'. The film has been directed by Gopichand Malineni and also stars Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Regina Cassandra, Saiyami Kher and Ramya Krishnan.
'Jaat' is slated to release in theatres on Friday, April 10. Earlier, at the trailer launch event of 'Jaat', Sunny Deol expressed his wish of seeing Bollywood producers learning from the conviction of the South makers.
"I wish Bollywood producers learn something from South producers. Make it Hindi cinema first, and then learn how to make cinema. The script is the hero there. I had so much fun that I’m already asking them to make another film with me. Kya pata wahin ja ke bas jau main," said Sunny Deol.
Sunny Deol was last seen in Anil Sharma's 'Gadar 2' alongside Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film registered a nett collection of Rs 525.70 crore in India against an approximate budget of Rs 80 crore.
