‘Stree 2’ Director Amar Kaushik Breaks Silence On Credit War Between Cast Members
Amar Kaushik has now finally opened up about the ‘Stree 2’ credit war, saying this has not affected the team's relationship with each other.
‘Stree 2’, directed by Amar Kaushik, starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, has emerged as the biggest Hindi hit of 2024. And it remains to be seen whether ‘Stree 2’ has enough legs to break the record of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' to emerge as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. However, the success of the new Hindi movie has been dented by a PR war for credit, which has taken over the internet.
Amar Kaushik has now finally opened up about the credit war, saying that this has not affected the team's relationship with each other. For the unversed, several fans are debating who deserves more credit between Shraddha and Rajkummar, for the success of the film.
Speaking to India Today about the same, Amar Kaushik said, “Honestly, fans of stars usually have this fight on social media where they claim their favourite actor should get all the credit for the movie. It is okay. It is really to each their own. Fans getting into a social media war over credits is common.”
“Also, when a film does well, people around [the stars] feed such things in the minds of everyone, including the cast, that they should get credit for the movie. Hence, I just went for a vacation to stay away from the noise because it is usually when you hit a certain mark is when it becomes easier to get trapped in such social media games,” he added.
When asked whether this controversy has impacted the relationship between the cast members, Amar Kaushik said, “Our bond has only gotten better. In fact, we have shot a video with the entire cast where we are replicating the ‘who gets the credit for the film’ fight and then I appear saying, ‘it is my film.’ It is a fun video that we have recorded.”
“Everyone knows that although the faces of the film were perhaps those 5-6 people, it is everyone who has worked behind the scenes that is equally responsible for the film’s success,” he said and added, “Everyone behind and in front of the film is responsible for the success. Now, the degree of love everyone gets can be different,” he added.
For the unversed, 'Stree 2' has also gone past the Hindi lifetime collection of 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion', becoming the fourth-highest grossing Hindi language film of all time, only behind 'Jawan', 'Gadar 2', and 'Pathaan'.
'Stree 2' is also the sixth Hindi film to enter the Rs 500 crore club after 'Jawan', 'Gadar 2', 'Pathaan', 'Animal', and 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'.
In terms of worldwide collection, 'Stree 2' has already grossed more than Rs 700 crore. The film is now the highest-grossing film of both Shraddha and Rajkummar's careers.
