Amid Credit Row, Shraddha Kapoor Says ‘Stree 2’ Is “Centered Around A Woman”
Shraddha Kapoor has broken her silence on the credit controversy that has broken out, calling ‘Stree 2’ a woman-centric film.
‘Stree 2’, directed by Amar Kaushik, starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana, has turned out to be a box office juggernaut. And it seems like that the new Hindi movie, which released in cinemas on Independence Day, is on its way to entering the Rs 500 crore club. As the movie continues to rake in the moolah, there is a huge controversy brewing with several fans debating about who deserves credit for the massive success of the film.
Several fans believe that it is Shraddha Kapoor who deserves the credit, as she is the biggest crowd puller among the cast, while others believe that Rajkummar Rao deserves all the plaudits because of the heavy lifting done by him in the film.
However, there are some that believe the credit belongs to no one among the cast, as the real work was done by the director Amar Kaushik and producers Maddock Films for creating a successful horror universe.
Among this ongoing credit war, Shraddha Kapoor has broken her silence on the issue and called 'Stree 2' a woman-centric film.
Speaking to Hello! India-Arabia, Shraddha said, "Stree has empowered me. The film is centered around a woman and she holds the reins of the narrative."
Aparshakti Khurana recently called the tussle for credit "unpleasant." Speaking to Zoom, he said, "See, this is a PR game. If your channel goes and asks the original audience on the street, are they saying this? I want to know that. So, this is a PR game, and I don’t want to comment on it. I love each and every actor of my film. I am attached to them. In such a happy space, where the film has received so much love and success, this can come across as slightly unpleasant.”
'Stree 2' is now the biggest hit of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's careers. On Tuesday, the new Hindi movie earned Rs 11.50 crore. The total nett collection of 'Stree 2', after 13 days, now stands at Rs 414.55 crore. On Tuesday, 'Stree 2' had an overall 23.39 per cent Hindi occupancy.
For the unversed, 'Stree 2' also features cameos by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, and Tamannaah Bhatia.
As per several reports, 'Stree 2' has already recovered its budget. For the unversed, 'Stree 2' has been mounted on a budget of Rs 120 crore, as per Pinkvilla.
