Move over, Bobby Deol! Veteran actress Shabana Azmi recently reminded fans that she had perfected the art of balancing a glass while dancing long before it turned into a viral phenomenon. The actress shared a high-energy video that has since taken social media by storm, proving that her legendary talent isn't just restricted to the silver screen – it extends to the dance floor, too. In the spirited and fun clip, Shabana Azmi was seen grooving alongside her close friend Parna Patkar.

“A staple dance that Parna Patkar started and I have followed—long before Bobby Deol did his dance that went viral,” Shabana Azmi captioned the post.

The duo performed an energetic dance, starting with the iconic ‘Muqabla Muqabla’ by A.R. Rahman and transitioning into the Govinda-Karishma classic ‘Husn Hai Suhana’.

While the crowd cheered them on, Shabana Azmi balanced a glass on her head with impressive poise. She didn't miss the chance to give a playful nod to the internet sensation involving actor Bobby Deol. In the 2023 blockbuster ‘Animal’, Bobby’s character Abrar Haque performed a dance sequence featuring a balancing glass atop his head as he grooved to the Iranian-inspired tune ‘Jamal Kudu’. The scene became a viral trend, with fans and celebrities alike recreating it online.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shabana Azmi is currently working on ‘Imaginary Rain’, a drama directed by celebrity chef and filmmaker Vikas Khanna. Based on Vikas Khanna’s 2023 novel, the film is a deeply personal narrative about a Manhattan-based MasterChef who returns to India following a personal tragedy. The movie will explore the themes of identity, grief, and the healing power of food.

Apart from Shabana Azmi, the upcoming project will also feature Prateik Smita Patil. The film’s music is composed by A.R. Rahman.

Director Vikas Khanna described working with Shabana Azmi as one of the “biggest privileges” of his life, noting that convincing her to take the role was a career highlight. The film is slated for release later in 2026.

Fans will also see Shabana Azmi in the upcoming Bollywood sequel ‘Awarapan 2’, starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani. While originally scheduled for an April 2026 debut, the film’s release was pushed back due to an accident involving Emraan Hashmi. It is now expected to hit theatres in May or June of this year.
