Pakistani RJ Apologises For Body-Shaming Katrina Kaif After Salman Khan’s Fiery Remarks On ‘Bigg Boss 20’

The weekend brought intense drama to the screens as Bollywood superstar Salman Khan took a fierce stand on ‘Bigg Boss 20’ Weekend Ka Vaar. The actor lashed out at internet trolls who recently body-shamed his close friend and actress Katrina Kaif for her post-pregnancy weight gain. The impact of Salman's fiery monologue was swift, prompting an immediate public apology from Pakistani RJ Dr. Ejaz Waris, who had previously sparked outrage with his derogatory comments about the new mother.

The controversy initially ignited following Katrina Kaif’s appearance at the star-studded Ambani Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Katrina, who welcomed her and Vicky Kaushal's son, Vihaan Kaushal, in November last year, was targeted by Ejaz Waris in a video where he was reviewing the “best looks” of couples at the event. His remarks body-shaming the actress instantly received heavy flak online. The backlash was widespread, with even Pakistani actor Ali Zafar stepping in to criticize the RJ's remarks and voice his support for Katrina.
However, the ultimate schooling came from Salman Khan on national television. Slamming the trolls for targeting a new mother's weight and appearance, Salman fiercely defended Katrina. He logically pointed out, “Pregnant hone ke baad everyone puts on weight”, reminding viewers that she will naturally get fit again when she is ready to return to films. Furthermore, he emphasised that Katrina should be allowed the peace to simply spend time with her family.

Salman didn't stop there; he called out the cowardice of anonymous trolls hiding behind fake identities, sharply questioning why someone would be so dissatisfied with their own face yet have the audacity to comment on another person's appearance and weight. Unsurprisingly, his protective stance earned him massive applause across social media.
Following the ‘Bigg Boss 20’ broadcast, Dr Ejaz Waris took to Instagram to issue a public apology, simultaneously turning off the comments on his post to avoid further heat. Sharing a video, he wrote in the caption: “SORRY KATRINA KAIF, From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely apologise to Katrina Kaif for my recent remarks. After Salman Khan mentioned it yesterday on Bigg Boss, I reflected and realised that my words may have hurt Katrina and many of her fans. Body shaming was never my intention. I'm also sorry to Salman Khan and to everyone who felt offended. Sometimes words come out wrong, and I genuinely regret mine.”
In the accompanying video, the RJ elaborated on his realization, stating, “I was just watching this clip of Salman Khan from Bigg Boss in which he mentioned me and said that I shouldn't have said such things to Katrina. And after this, I really felt that I shouldn't have said all those things. I am a huge fan of Salman and Katrina too, but I don't know in what flow I said those things in the recording. I just joked a bit for the hook of the video, but a lot of people are hurt because of my words.”
He continued to express his remorse, adding, “I am really sorry, Katrina Kaif, if my words have hurt you and sorry to everyone whose heart broke because of my reel. I know I said this in a very casual way without any intention of body shaming, but I don't know in what flow I said those words. My words would have hurt, but my intention was never to body-shame. Keep rocking, Salman and Katrina.”
Concluding his apology, the RJ admitted that the global call-out had left a heavy burden on his heart. Maintaining that he is strong and not simply apologizing out of fear of being labelled "scared" after the intense backlash, he reiterated that his regret is genuine, affectionately referring to Katrina Kaif as the “superstar of India”.
