Sobhita Dhulipala Stands Up For Katrina Kaif Amid Postpartum Body-Shaming
Sobhita Dhulipala has addressed the scrutiny women face in the public eye amid the trolling over Katrina Kaif’s postpartum weight gain.

The glitz and glamour of Bollywood often come with an unforgiving spotlight, and no one knows this better right now than Katrina Kaif. The beloved actress, who joyfully welcomed her son Vihaan alongside husband Vicky Kaushal in November 2025, has recently found herself at the receiving end of harsh social media trolling. The unwarranted scrutiny erupted over her natural postpartum weight gain after she was recently spotted attending the Ambani family's grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.

As several photos and videos from the star-studded event surfaced online, many netizens chose to comment negatively on her post-childbirth appearance. While neither Katrina nor Vicky has offered any reaction to the online chatter, the film fraternity is rallying behind the new mother.
Actress Sobhita Dhulipala is the latest industry name to address this relentless scrutiny and speak out against the toxic internet trolls. During a recent NDTV event, Sobhita was asked to share her thoughts on the intense criticism that women in the film industry are constantly subjected to, particularly in light of the recent comments surrounding Katrina’s postpartum weight gain. Highlighting the heavy and often contradictory expectations placed on women's shoulders, Sobhita delivered a thoughtful response about dealing with the public eye.
She said, "Women are expected to be strong, women are expected to be sensitive, women are expected to be many things. And different women handle things differently, so there is no generic rule. Like when you say that public criticism is disappointing, I am sure it can be for many people; we are all human. We just deal with it in a way that makes sense for us."
Sobhita is not the first to defend the actress. Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra, who is also a new mother, previously came out in strong support of Katrina and heavily criticised those behind the trolling. Dismissing the negativity, Parineeti called comments about women's bodies after childbirth "uneducated."

She pointed out a stark societal double standard: physical changes resulting from everyday activities such as getting a haircut, going on a holiday, or working out are often openly celebrated, while natural changes caused by pregnancy and childbirth are treated with unwarranted negativity. Changing the narrative, Parineeti stated that she would instead view stretch marks as a powerful reminder that a woman had carried and given birth to a baby, adding firmly that such changes should be celebrated rather than criticised.
Superstar Salman Khan also joined the chorus of voices backing Katrina, specifically criticising the trolls who chose to body-shame her. He questioned exactly why people felt the need to comment on the actor's weight and physical appearance when she had so recently become a mother. Putting it simply, he said, “Pregnant hone ke baad everyone puts on weight”. He assured fans that she would get fit again whenever she decided to return to films. Furthermore, he emphasised that Katrina should be allowed the peace to spend time with her family right now.
Meanwhile, as Sobhita stands up for her peer, she is also gearing up for her next major project. The actress will next be seen headlining Pa Ranjith's highly anticipated sci-fi drama, ‘Vettuvam’. The film’s narrative is set to span across three distinct time periods, with the intense fight for power and authority taking centre stage.
The ambitious project boasts an extensive ensemble cast, starring Alaiyarasan, Mime Gopi, Guru Somasundaram, Shabeer Kallarakkal, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, Anand Saami, Harish Uthaman, and Lizzy. Behind the scenes, the technical crew is equally stacked, with music composed by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography handled by Roopesh Shaji, action choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan, and editing by Selva R K. Fans won't have to wait too long, as ‘Vettuvam’ is officially set to release in December this year.
