Salman Khan’s Father, Salim Khan Undergoes Surgery After Haemorrhage, Placed On Ventilator Support
Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan, has undergone surgery after a haemorrhage and remains on ventilator support at Lilavati Hospital.
Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, aged 90, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday morning after his health deteriorated. According to a recent report by The Indian Express, he underwent surgery following a haemorrhage and is currently on ventilator support. While Salman Khan’s father’s condition remains critical, doctors have stated that he is stable and under close medical supervision. Dr. Jalil Parkar confirmed the development, saying, “He has undergone surgery and is now kept on a ventilator. His condition is stable now. On Wednesday, we will issue a press bulletin with the consent of the family and relatives.”

He further added that Salim Khan’s health is stable but remains under close observation in view of his clinical status.
News of his hospitalisation prompted immediate concern within the family and the film fraternity. Salim Khan’s son Salman Khan was spotted leaving the Bandra-based hospital after visiting his father, appearing visibly worried.
Other family members present at the hospital included Arbaaz Khan, Arpita Khan Sharma, and grandsons Nirvaan and Arhaan. Actor Sanjay Dutt and celebrated lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar also visited to enquire about the veteran screenwriter’s health.

Former actress and Salman Khan’s former partner Somy Ali shared an emotional note, expressing her concern for Salim Khan. She described him as a father figure, recalling how she was welcomed into his home and treated like family. She wrote that she was included at the dining table and engaged in meaningful conversations about faith, where all religions were respected and celebrated. She ended her message with prayers for his strength and recovery.
The health setback comes only months after Salim Khan marked his 90th birthday on November 24. On the occasion, his daughter Arpita Khan had posted a heartfelt tribute and shared family photographs, calling her father her “galaxy”.
Salim Khan is regarded as one of the most influential screenwriters in Hindi cinema. As one half of the iconic Salim–Javed duo alongside Javed Akhtar, he played a defining role in shaping mainstream Bollywood during the 1970s and early 1980s. Together, they penned several landmark films, including ‘Sholay’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Zanjeer’, and ‘Trishul’, leaving a lasting impact on Indian cinema.
His personal life, too, has long been a subject of public interest. Salim Khan married Salma Khan (born Sushila Charak) in 1964, and the couple have four children – Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, and Alvira.
In 1981, he married actress Helen, whom he met on the sets of ‘Don’. The family later expanded with the adoption of Arpita Khan. They are known for maintaining a close-knit, multi-generational household.
