Social media has been rife with speculation that Indian actress Mrunal Thakur is set to marry Tamil star Dhanush, with some reports even claiming the wedding would take place on Valentine’s Day. While neither actor has confirmed a relationship, let alone wedding plans, the rumours gained significant traction online. Now, Mrunal Thakur has finally reacted to the buzz – and she isn’t amused. The actress is currently busy promoting her upcoming Hindi film ‘Do Deewane Seher Mein’, co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, which releases on February 20.

During an interview with Galatta Plus, she was asked directly whether she was getting married soon, with an implied reference to Dhanush. Shutting down the speculation with humour, Mrunal responded, “Me? No. I think 14th April is going to be the 1st April… 14th Feb is going to be the 1st April. April Fools' Day. Because I don’t know who started… First of all. I’ve been quoted, but I never said anything. And they just said, Mrunal said so. I was like, wow, how beautiful. It’s scary.”

Throughout her response, Siddhant was seen trying to suppress a smile. Clips from the interview have since gone viral.

The conversation also touched upon an AI-generated video that surfaced last month, falsely depicting Mrunal and Dhanush getting married. Addressing that, she remarked, “It’s a scary space right now. All of it are click baits,” highlighting her discomfort with how easily misinformation spreads online.

For those unaware, dating rumours between Mrunal and Dhanush first began circulating in 2025. The speculation intensified after Mrunal attended the wrap-up party of Dhanush’s film ‘Tere Ishq Mein’. Later, in August, videos and pictures of her welcoming Dhanush at the premiere of ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ – where she was seen hugging him – further fuelled gossip. Additionally, her presence at the success party of ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ added to the chatter.

Earlier this month, during promotions for ‘Do Deewane Seher Mein’, a reporter made a playful reference to “Chennai waale sawaal.” Siddhant immediately pointed toward Mrunal and asked, “Inse tha voh Chennai waala yaa mujhse tha?” She clarified that the question was for him, but Siddhant continued teasing her, until a reporter jokingly said, “Hum samajh rahe hain,” adding fuel to the rumours.

Despite the mounting speculation, neither Mrunal nor Dhanush has ever confirmed they are dating.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Mrunal has a packed slate ahead. Apart from ‘Do Deewane Seher Mein’, she will be seen in ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ and ‘Pooja Meri Jaan’ in Hindi. She also stars in the Telugu film ‘Dacoit: A Love Story’ and is rumoured to be part of Atlee’s upcoming project with Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone.

Dhanush, meanwhile, has the Tamil film ‘Kara’ in the pipeline, along with a yet-to-be-titled project directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, co-starring Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela.
