Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 61st birthday with a special treat for fans as the makers of his upcoming actioner 'King' unveiled the film's first song, 'Tu Mil Jaaye', shortly after midnight on Monday. The track brings together SRK and Deepika Padukone, marking another collaboration between the popular on-screen pair, who have previously delivered several box-office successes. Directed by Siddharth Anand, 'King' presents the Badshah of Bollywood in a fascinating dual avatar in the song.

While his character appears to be a full-blown romantic in front of Deepika, a much darker side emerges whenever she is out of sight.

SRK is introduced walking across an island with a firearm. However, his actions tell a different story. In one particularly striking moment, he discovers a kidnapped man lying beside a bouquet of roses in the trunk of a car. After shooting him, he retrieves the flowers and heads out for a romantic date with Deepika. The visual treatment and chemistry between the leads also evoke memories of 'Besharam Rang' from Siddharth Anand's 2023 blockbuster 'Pathaan'.

As the track progresses, viewers get further glimpses into the dangerous world inhabited by Shah Rukh's character. He is shown secretly transporting firearms, disguising the weapons beneath fish in a cargo shipment. There are also flashes of intense action, including Shah Rukh being physically assaulted before embarking on a violent rampage with an axe. The actor's muscular, eight-pack physique, complemented by tattoos across his torso, provides another talking point for fans.

Towards the conclusion, the song takes a darker emotional turn. Shah Rukh's character hints at a personal tragedy that has left him consumed by rage. The sequence ends with him shooting a man inside a casino.

Musically, 'Tu Mil Jaaye' is composed by Sachin-Jigar and features an interesting combination of voices. Arijit Singh lends his vocals to the track. British singer Ed Sheeran adds another dimension to the composition by performing its English rap portions. The track has been written by Kumaar and choreographed by Piyush-Shazia, while Madhumati Bagchi provided the female vocals.

Produced by Siddharth and Mamata Anand's Marflix Pictures alongside Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, 'King' boasts an extensive ensemble cast. Abhishek Bachchan will portray the principal antagonist, while Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghav Juyal, Suhana Khan and Abhay Verma are also part of the project.

The film will mark the sixth on-screen collaboration between Shah Rukh and Deepika. Their previous outings include 'Om Shanti Om' (2007), 'Chennai Express' (2013), 'Happy New Year' (2014), 'Pathaan' (2023) and 'Jawan' (2023). All five films enjoyed considerable commercial success, raising expectations for their latest pairing. 'King' is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 24, making it one of the major releases of the Christmas holiday season.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh's birthday celebrations also drew considerable attention outside his Mumbai residence, Mannat. Hundreds of admirers gathered near the Bandra landmark around midnight to celebrate the occasion. Among the messages showcased outside the residence was a personal note from Shah Rukh thanking his supporters for their affection and wishes.
