Janhvi Kapoor recently revealed her late mother Sridevi’s most favourite place to visit in Chennai.
Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, who is actively promoting her upcoming film ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, recently attended the IPL 2024 final with her co-star Rajkummar Rao. It was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Shreyas Iyer-led KKR defeated Pat Cummins’ SunRisers Hyderabad by eight wickets and 57 balls. After enjoying the match with her ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ co-star Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor went to “her mummas most favourite place to visit” in Chennai.
Sridevi left an irreplaceable void in the lives of her daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, when she passed away in 2018. Ever since, Janhvi Kapoor has made it a point to honour her mother at every significant moment. In a heartfelt gesture before the release of ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, Janhvi visited Muppathamman Temple in Chennai with the late Sridevi’s cousin, Maheshwari Ayyappan, who is also an actress.
Sharing pictures on her Instagram account, Janhvi Kapoor captioned the post, “Visited Muppathamman temple for the first time mummas most favourite place to visit in Chennai.”

Janhvi Kapoor looked beautiful in a floral saree lehenga, sporting a wide smile for the camera. Soon after Janhvi Kapoor shared the photos on Instagram, Varun Dhawan commented on her post.
“Masi whose actually your sister,” Varun Dhawan’s comment read. The Bollywood actor’s hilarious comment definitely stole the limelight.
Janhvi Kapoor also recently talked about how her mother’s passing affected her and led her to become more religious. While promoting ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, Janhvi Kapoor discussed her mother’s superstitions, like avoiding certain activities on specific dates and not wearing black on Fridays.
Janhvi said, “She believed in things like, ‘certain activities should be done on specific dates,’ ‘don’t cut hair on Fridays as it will prevent Goddess Lakshmi from entering the house,’ and ‘avoid wearing black on Fridays.’ I never believed in such superstitions. However, after she passed away, I started believing in them, maybe even too much. I don’t know if I was this religious and spiritually inclined when she was around. We all followed these practices because Mamma did. But following her demise, the relationship our culture and history have with Hinduism… I think I started taking refuge in our religion a lot more.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Janhvi Kapoor will be next seen in ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’. The upcoming film is directed by Sharan Sharma, who made his directorial debut with ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’, which starred Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role.
‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ is backed by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta. The film marks the second collaboration of Janhvi and Rajkummar after the 2021 horror thriller 'Roohi'.
Apart from ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, Janhvi Kapoor will be seen in ‘Ulajh’, which will hit the theatres on July 5. She will also mark her Telugu debut with ‘Devara: Part 1’, co-starring Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan.
She also has ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ alongside Varun Dhawan in the pipeline. Janhvi Kapoor will also be seen opposite Ram Charan in his next untitled film.
