Shah Rukh Khan was banned for five years from entering the Wankhede Stadium in 2012, after he was involved in an altercation with the security staff.
Ahead of the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh Khan's much-hyped tussle at the Wankhede Stadium in 2012 is once again gaining traction on social media. For the unversed, the KKR co-owner was banned for five years from entering the Wankhede Stadium in 2012, after he was involved in an altercation with the security staff. Many fans are still wondering what exactly happened on that night, which led to SRK losing his cool in public. In the latest Bollywood celebrity news, former support staff member of KKR has spilled new information regarding the much talked about incident.
It all started with Joy Bhattacharya taking to X (formerly Twitter) to talk about the IPL 2024 match between Mumbai Indians and KKR.
“The last time KKR beat MI at the Wankhede, I was still a part of that dugout. It’s been a while, but today might just be the day," he wrote on X.
Replying to this, a user wrote that KKR has been “cursed” ever since the day Shah Rukh “abused” the security guard. The user, however, later deleted his tweet.
However, Joy Bhattacharya then gave a clarification, saying the superstar's outburst came after his daughter Suhana Khan was catcalled.
“KKR won two championships after that incident. And he did not abuse, I was there. And the next time, stay calm when someone cat calls your young daughter,” Joy wrote.

SRK was banned from entering the Wankhede Stadium for five years in 2012. However, the ban was lifted three years later. For the unversed, the altercation had happened after KKR defeated Mumbai Indians in 2012.
Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan had also explained how the incident happened, saying he was triggered by a word used by the security staff that was religious in nature.
“My kids were there and I thought someone… Maybe they had a rule, that hatao yaha se. I told him, these are our kids and we are taking them. I just said this. There was a person there who said a word which I, as a Delhi person, felt like it was an abusive word," SRK said on Aap Ki Adalat.
"Even though the same word in Marathi is also rude. Thoda sa religious, galat tha woh. I then lost my cool, main pagal hogaya and I went to hit him,” the actor added.
SRK has never attended any game at the Wankhede Stadium after this incident, and it needs to be seen whether he supports KKR from the stadium later today.
