The viewers will get to witness an emotional start to the latest season as judges Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Dadlani will be seen paying a heartfelt tribute to the late Zubeen Garg – one of Assam’s most beloved and influential musical legends, who tragically passed away in Singapore in a swimming-related accident. The moving moment unfolded during the auditions when an Assam-based contestant took the stage, prompting Vishal Dadlani to reminisce about the singer’s unparalleled legacy.
In a recently released promo, Vishal Dadlani was seen expressing his deep admiration for the late artist. He said, “Assam is one of the most musical places… You come from the place where Zubeen Garg was born and brought up. He was one of the biggest stars born in India. As an Assamese, losing Zubeen is not a small thing. He was one of the greatest of all time.” His words captured the immense pride and sorrow felt by millions of Zubeen’s fans.
To honour his memory, Shreya Ghoshal went on to sing an Assamese song as a tribute to the iconic musician, while Vishal also performed ‘Jaane Kya Chahe Mann Bawra’ in remembrance of Zubeen. Zubeen Garg, known for his soulful voice and unmatched versatility, was far more than just a playback singer. He was also a multi-instrumentalist who played dozens of instruments, besides directing and acting in several Assamese films and music videos – cementing his place as a creative powerhouse.
On September 19, 2025, the celebrated artist was in Singapore for a yacht outing when he reportedly fell unconscious while swimming. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead. The Singapore police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.
