Accompanying the clip, Ajay wrote, “Iss baar sawaari badi hai, aur entertainment usse bhi zyada bada hoga #Golmaal5 Ooty schedule with the boys.” The post instantly went viral, garnering thousands of likes and comments from fans who have been eagerly waiting for the return of Gopal, Madhav, Lucky, and the rest of the crew.
Arshad Warsi also shared the update on his Instagram handle, “Ooty schedule wrap with the Boys/Men !! Golmaal 5!!!!!”
One of the biggest highlights of ‘Golmaal 5’ is the return of the original ensemble. The Ooty wrap featured Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu. However, the most talked-about return is that of Sharman Joshi, who was part of the very first film, ‘Golmaal: Fun Unlimited’ (2006), but was absent from the subsequent sequels. His homecoming to the franchise has added an extra layer of excitement for long-time viewers.
Director Rohit Shetty also shared the same video montage, reflecting on the two-decade-long journey of the series. He noted that the team has been “riding through positive vibes” since 2006, highlighting the enduring camaraderie that has made the ‘Golmaal’ series one of Hindi cinema's most reliable comedy brands.
While the original gang provides the nostalgia, the fifth installment is set to introduce a fresh dynamic with the inclusion of Akshay Kumar. The actor, who was officially announced as part of the project on Rohit Shetty’s birthday (March 14, 2026), is reportedly set to play the antagonist. Early BTS footage has teased Akshay in a striking bald look, further fuelling speculation about his character's role in the chaotic universe of ‘Golmaal’.
In a humorous exchange during the announcement, Ajay Devgn even quipped, "Koi franchise nahi chhodta hai ye,” referencing Akshay's knack for joining successful film series.
The ‘Golmaal’ franchise has remained a box-office powerhouse for nearly twenty years. Starting with ‘Golmaal: Fun Unlimited’ in 2006, the series expanded with ‘Golmaal Returns’ (2008), ‘Golmaal 3’ (2010), and the supernatural-themed ‘Golmaal Again’ (2017). Each film has managed to raise the stakes in terms of scale and ensemble cast, and ‘Golmaal 5’ appears to be following that successful blueprint.
With the Ooty schedule now in the bag, the production is moving forward at a brisk pace. As the team wraps up this leg of the shoot, the message to the audience is clear: prepare for a ride that promises more madness, more characters, and the return of the organised chaos that only Rohit Shetty can deliver.
