Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, who was last seen in the 2026 hit ‘Awarapan 2’, is officially returning to the horror genre. Back to send shivers down our spines, the Bollywood star has announced his next big-ticket project: ‘Rooh’. Promising a return to the chilling, melody-driven narratives that fans have long associated with his career, the film is slated for a grand theatrical release in 2027. As seen in the official announcement post, the visual aesthetic of ‘Rooh’ is steeped in dark, foreboding mysticism. The motion poster opens with an ominous tagline that perfectly sets the tone for the cinematic experience: "Deeper the Fear. Bigger the Music." The visual then dramatically shifts to reveal a dense, fiery-orange and crimson backdrop. Thick, ancient tree roots and gnarled, creeping vines dominate the claustrophobic frame.

Peering menacingly through the narrow gaps of this tangled wilderness is none other than Emraan Hashmi himself. His solitary, glowing eye stares directly into the viewer's soul, hinting at a character who is either deeply possessed or harbouring a terrifying supernatural secret. Directly beneath his intense, haunting gaze, the title is emblazoned in burning, ember-like typography, solidifying the film’s fierce and intense aura.

Beyond its leading man, ‘Rooh’ boasts a formidable creative team. The film is helmed by director Mayank Sharma, widely acclaimed for his gripping, edge-of-the-seat work on the hit web series ‘Breathe’. Mayank Sharma has also co-written the screenplay alongside Vishal Kapoor, a writer celebrated for crafting critically lauded horror hits like ‘Lapachhapi’ and ‘Chhorii’.
Adding immense weight to the project is the production collaboration between Tips Films and Vicked Films Productions. The movie is being produced by Kumar Taurani, Girissh Kumar, Vikram Khakhar, and Sunny Khanna. Given the heavy involvement of Tips Music, the soundtrack is expected to be a massive highlight – a crucial element for any Emraan Hashmi movie.
Speaking about the musical vision for the film, Emraan Hashmi recently shared, “Collaborating with Kumar ji on this film feels serendipitous. Music has always been an integral part of how audiences connect with my films. With Rooh, we want music that captures the soul of the film, which is deeply romantic, haunting, and rooted by emotion.”
Designed as a pan-Indian film, ‘Rooh’ will be released simultaneously across Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu markets. As fans eagerly await the first teaser and music drops, one thing is certain from this fiery first look: the master of musical horror is preparing for a massive, terrifying comeback.
