For the unversed, the duo is reuniting for a new comedy-drama tentatively titled ‘Ram Aur Shyam’. Along with Akshay and Vidya, the film reportedly stars Raashii Khanna and Vijay Raaz. Further details about the upcoming project have been kept under wraps.
Akshay and Vidya have never given a flop when they have starred together, as all their previous films have been huge box-office winners. Akshay is also reuniting with Anees Bazmee after a 15-year gap. The duo has given hits such as 'Singh Is Kinng', 'Welcome' and 'Thank You'.
Speaking of Akshay and his latest release 'Bhooth Bangla', the film is slowly and steadily moving towards the Rs 100 crore mark in India. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the new Hindi film earned Rs 6.15 crore on Wednesday, the sixth day of its release, taking the total nett collection to Rs 78.90 crore.
Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ features a stellar ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, the late Asrani, Tabu, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav, Mithila Palkar, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
While the story offers familiar tropes, the execution shines. The production returned to the Chomu Palace – the same location used for Bhool Bhulaiyaa – which has added a heavy dose of nostalgia for long-time fans. This, combined with Divakar Mani’s rustic cinematography and top-notch VFX, has elevated the film’s visual appeal.
As the film heads toward its second weekend, all eyes are on whether it can maintain this momentum and challenge the lifetime records of the year’s biggest hits.
