Ajay Devgn’s 'Drishyam 3' has crossed Rs 500 crore worldwide.

The phenomenal box office performance of ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ has reignited conversations around one of Indian cinema’s most successful crime thriller franchises. However, director Abhishek Pathak has indicated that the story of Vijay Salgaonkar has reached its end, ruling out the possibility of another installment. In an interview with Screen, Abhishek Pathak expressed hope that October 2 would continue to hold a special place among fans as ‘Drishyam Day’, reflecting the lasting connection audiences have developed with the franchise.

The filmmaker believes the third film brings the narrative to a fitting close, leaving little room for a continuation.

"All of us believe this is the last part of the film. Obviously, the audience is loving it, and talking about it. But Drishyam isn’t the franchise where we can just decide to make another film. It’s very much dependent on the story, and the story has ended. I always thought the ending was very poetic. It’s a love letter to the franchise," Abhishek Pathak told Screen.

"The closure is beautifully done. That’s what people liked about it. A lot of people are telling me there can be a part 4. If you get to it, there can be enormous amount of story to it, but that’s not the point. We had to stop it at some point, and this was a beautiful ending to the franchise. Drishyam 3 is only in its second week right now. People are still coming to theatres in huge numbers. The second weekend was more than Rs 60 crore. That’s a figure too many films don’t achieve even in their lifetime. So, let’s not spoil it for them," he added.

Starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role, 'Drishyam: The Conclusion' has delivered a remarkable commercial performance. According to Sacnilk, the film has collected Rs 501.80 crore worldwide in just 12 days, including Rs 323.50 crore in domestic nett earnings. It opened with an impressive Rs 62 crore on its first day and accumulated Rs 245.50 crore worldwide during its opening week.

A strong second weekend helped sustain its momentum, taking the film past the Rs 500 crore milestone and making it the highest-grossing film of Ajay Devgn’s career. It has also moved into second place among the highest-grossing Indian films of 2026, overtaking the lifetime collections of 'Border 2', 'Toxic', 'Mirzapur The Movie', 'Jana Nayagan' and 'Peddi'.

The third chapter brings Ajay Devgn back as Vijay Salgaonkar, a man whose carefully constructed world faces renewed uncertainty when a determined Crime Branch officer revisits the case. Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Jaideep Ahlawat are also part of the ensemble.

The film’s conclusion has received appreciation from Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who headlined the original Malayalam 'Drishyam' franchise. Praising the team, he said he was impressed by the way the much-loved story had been brought to a fitting end. He also congratulated Abhishek Pathak, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, Devgn and the entire cast and crew.
