Revisit the physical altercations that shook Indian reality TV.

Reality television knows how to turn a disagreement into an event. Put contestants in one house, add competitive tasks and a camera that never looks away, and even an argument over chores can become appointment viewing. But there is a point at which the drama stops feeling like a game. A shove, a slap or an object thrown across a room can change the course of someone’s season in seconds. The latest flashpoint on ‘Rise & Fall 2’ has brought that uneasy history back into focus.

Hosted by former cricketer Virender Sehwag, the second season of ‘Rise & Fall’ began streaming on September 26, 2026. Its Rulers-versus-Workers game was barely underway when the third episode delivered a confrontation no format needs. After Shehzad Poonawalla nominated Siwet Tomar out of the Ultimate Ruler race, their argument turned to Siwet’s changing equation with fellow contestant Swara Bhasker. Siwet charged at Shehzad and grabbed him around the collar; the scuffle left Shehzad on the floor with a torn kurta. Swara tried to intervene. However, Siwet was eventually evicted.

The dispute continued outside the house. In a video after his exit, Siwet acknowledged grabbing Shehzad’s collar but denied hitting him, saying Shehzad slipped. He also accused Shehzad of provoking him with remarks about religion and caste. Shehzad’s side described the encounter as a physical attack. In an episode aired afterwards, Shehzad told Irina Rudakova that, while receiving treatment, he had asked the makers to forgive Siwet and keep him on the show because it was his livelihood.

Apart from this fight, the cameras have caught plenty of other moments when a reality-show feud escaped the boundaries of a verbal clash. Here are the clashes that still demand a closer look:

1. Suzanne and Soundharya Shetty - Splitsvilla X6 (2026)

‘MTV Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar Ya Paisa’ premiered on January 9, 2026, with Sunny Leone and Karan Kundrra as hosts. In one of its earliest controversies, a conversation in the Pyaar Villa went sharply off course. Suzanne asked Soundharya Shetty to speak privately about her behaviour during a task; the exchange turned heated, Suzanne threw tea at her, and Soundharya pushed her to the ground. Other contestants stepped in as the confrontation became physical. At the subsequent Dome session, Sunny and Karan warned the contestants against physical fights. Karan pointed out how dangerous the tea throw could have been had it been scalding.

2. Tashi and Goutham Sasi - Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 (2026)

Mohanlal returned to host ‘Bigg Boss Malayalam 8’ when it premiered on September 6, 2026. In the third week, Bigg Boss called off a task that had grown too physical, but the tension followed the contestants into the garden. Tashi and Eldho charged towards each other during an argument, and Goutham Sasi stepped between them. Goutham said Tashi struck him with an elbow below the chest and sought medical attention; Tashi denied attacking him and said he had been defending himself. Eldho called for Tashi’s removal.

The weekend episode added a twist. Mohanlal reviewed the matter, Tashi apologised to Goutham, and the issue between them was resolved on air. The host then challenged Eldho over footage in which he appeared to urge Goutham to act hurt and over his threats to bring outsiders into the dispute.

3. Zeeshan Khan and Azma Fallah - Lock Upp (2022)

Zeeshan Khan’s second reality-show ejection was worse than his first. ‘Lock Upp’ began streaming on February 27, 2022, with Kangana Ranaut as host and Karan Kundrra in the separate role of jailor. After Azma Fallah made remarks about Zeeshan’s girlfriend, a quarrel escalated into damaged belongings and scattered personal items. Zeeshan then pushed Azma and struck her face with a broom. Kangana condemned the violence, and Karan entered the jail to expel him.

The jail theme supplied the show’s theatrical setting, but there was nothing playful about the decision. Karan acknowledged that Azma had provoked Zeeshan verbally; he still made clear that provocation did not excuse the physical assault.

4. Umar Riaz and Pratik Sehajpal - Bigg Boss 15 (2021)

When Salman Khan-hosted ‘Bigg Boss 15’ premiered on October 2, 2021, Umar Riaz and Pratik Sehajpal were among the contestants headed for a long, combustible season. During a task in January 2022, their confrontation turned physical. The decision about Umar was not announced on the spot: the show carried the matter into the following weekend, when Salman announced his elimination after referring to Umar’s aggression and earlier warnings.

That delay made the exit a talking point of its own. Umar’s supporters questioned why this altercation ended his run when other rough encounters during the season had been handled differently.

5. Zeeshan Khan and Pratik Sehajpal - Bigg Boss OTT (2021)

Before ‘Lock Upp’, there was the first Hindi ‘Bigg Boss OTT’, which premiered on August 8, 2021, with Karan Johar hosting. During a Boss Man-Boss Lady task, Zeeshan Khan and Pratik Sehajpal argued as contestants challenged the rules Zeeshan and Divya Agarwal were setting. Zeeshan pushed Pratik, and Bigg Boss immediately ordered him out for breaking the rule against physical violence.

Divya pleaded for her connection to be given another chance, but the task was already beside the point. Zeeshan’s later exit from ‘Lock Upp’ made him a rare contestant to be removed from two different reality shows following physical altercations.

6. Vikas Gupta and Arshi Khan - Bigg Boss 14 (2020)

The swimming pool became an exit route for Vikas Gupta during ‘Bigg Boss 14’, which premiered on October 3, 2020, with Salman Khan hosting. Vikas entered as a challenger and soon clashed with Arshi Khan. After their arguments turned personal and brought family members into the exchange, he pushed her into the pool. The other housemates rushed over, and Bigg Boss asked Vikas to leave for using physical force.

His removal was not the end of his season: Vikas returned to the house the following week. His comeback showed that being expelled after a fight did not always mean a contestant was gone for good.

7. Madhurima Tuli and Vishal Aditya Singh - Bigg Boss 13 (2019)

Some reality-show props should stay in the kitchen. ‘Bigg Boss 13’ premiered on September 29, 2019, with Salman Khan as host. By January 2020, former couple Madhurima Tuli and Vishal Aditya Singh had taken their on-screen conflict to a disturbing place. During an argument, Vishal repeatedly splashed water on Madhurima even after a warning. Madhurima retaliated by striking him multiple times with a frying pan.

Salman said both had behaved badly, but Madhurima’s use of the pan broke the house rule and she was expelled. After leaving, she acknowledged that she had lost control while arguing that Vishal’s part in the confrontation also deserved scrutiny.

8. Ajaz Khan and Ali Quli Mirza - Bigg Boss Halla Bol (2015)

‘Bigg Boss Halla Bol’ launched on January 3, 2015, as an extension of season eight, with Farah Khan taking over hosting duties from Salman Khan. The idea was to pit returning challengers against the existing contestants. Ajaz Khan barely had time to settle in: banter with Ali Quli Mirza in the garden escalated into insults, then Ajaz used physical force against him. Bigg Boss removed Ajaz at the start of the new leg of the game.

It was a particularly short run for a contestant brought in to create fireworks. The show had invited challengers to unsettle the house, but this clash demonstrated the limit of that invitation.

9. Kushal Tandon and VJ Andy - Bigg Boss 7 (2013)

Salman Khan’s ‘Bigg Boss 7’ premiered on September 15, 2013, with a heaven-and-hell theme. Weeks later, VJ Andy flaunted Gauahar Khan’s lingerie and made crude remarks during a task meant to test the housemates’ patience. Kushal Tandon charged at Andy and tried to hit him; Bigg Boss dismissed Kushal for his aggression. Gauahar briefly left with him before returning to the show.

The exit, however, was not permanent. Kushal came back in November, setting up the peculiar sight of an ejected contestant once again sharing the same house with Andy. Even a removal did not necessarily close the chapter on a season’s biggest feud.

10. Pooja Misrra and Siddharth Bharadwaj - Bigg Boss 5 (2011)

‘Bigg Boss 5’ opened on October 2, 2011, with Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt as co-hosts. Pooja Misrra had already become a magnet for house arguments when a dispute with Siddharth Bharadwaj over chores and her authority as captain ended in an alleged push. The show removed her on disciplinary grounds. Pooja disputed the description afterward, saying she had tried to stop Siddharth and make him listen, and that her action had been interpreted as a shove.

It is easy to mix this up with the season’s other famous Pooja moment: breaking a broom during an earlier outburst. The broom incident drew a warning from Sanjay; the confrontation with Siddharth was the one that ended her stay.

11. Dolly Bindra and Samir Soni - Bigg Boss 4 (2010)

‘Bigg Boss 4’ began on October 3, 2010, with Salman Khan as host. When Dolly Bindra argued with Shweta Tiwari, Samir Soni stepped in and the conflict shifted to Dolly and Samir. Reports at the time differed on whether they exchanged blows or came close to doing so, but agreed on the immediate result: Bigg Boss ordered both of them out after the confrontation.

Neither departure was final. Samir and Dolly subsequently returned to the house, turning what first looked like a double exit into another chapter of the season.

12. Kamaal R Khan, Rohit Verma and Shamita Shetty - Bigg Boss 3 (2009)

The Hindi franchise had an early warning of where a thrown object could lead. ‘Bigg Boss 3’ premiered on October 4, 2009, with Amitabh Bachchan hosting. During a row with designer Rohit Verma, Kamaal R Khan, better known as KRK, threw a water bottle at him. Rohit ducked, and the bottle hit Shamita Shetty’s hand instead. Bigg Boss expelled KRK, with a channel executive confirming that his conduct breached the house rules.

It remains an apt place to end this rewind: the intended target moved, an uninvolved contestant was struck, and a confrontation lasting moments changed the game. From that bottle to a torn kurta on ‘Rise & Fall 2’, the details vary, but the central question has followed Indian reality television for years: what happens when the pursuit of a dramatic moment leaves someone else to absorb the impact?
