Actresses like Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif, Janhvi Kapoor and Ananya Panday are not just celebrated for their acting prowess but also for their impeccable fashion sense. Despite the Bollywood industry's vast wardrobe resources and relentless pursuit of uniqueness and individuality, many leading actresses have been spotted donning the same or strikingly similar ensembles.
This phenomenon can be attributed to a variety of factors. Sometimes, it’s the sheer popularity of a particular design that makes it a favourite among multiple B-town divas. In other cases, stylists might unintentionally select the same outfit for different clients.

Amid this growing trend, we decided to take a look at several Bollywood beauties who wore the same or strikingly similar outfits.

Katrina Kaif vs Deepika Padukone in stunning LBDs: Deepika Padukone, who is expecting her first child with Ranveer Singh in September 2024, wore a black leather Halpern Studio dress that stood high on style and drama in January 2022. The black dress had a ruched bodice, an asymmetric one-shoulder pattern and a figure-flattering cut-out detailing at the waist. She styled the outfit with chunky gold-toned chain-link earrings and pointed-toe tie-up heels. Deepika opted for pulled-back hair and her beauty picks were well-defined eyebrows, a soft smokey eyeshadow look, a flawless matte base, and nude lips.
Katrina Kaif wore a similar dress a few months later. She looked absolutely stunning as she slipped into a one-shoulder black mini faux leather dress from the shelves of the American designer, Rick Owens. She let her outfit do the talking as she ditched accessory. Katrina Kaif pulled back her tresses and tied them into a sleek, high ponytail. She went for a soft glam makeup look, featuring pink lips.
Our verdict: While both of the Bollywood divas looked absolutely gorgeous in the LBD, Deepika Padukone’s choice of gold-toned chain-link earrings made the outfit look a tad bit better.
2. Kareena Kapoor Khan vs Ananya Panday in leopard-print dress: Kareena Kapoor Khan, the OG fashionista, wore a stylish sky and coral-coloured leopard-print silk dress. The gorgeous attire was from the Resort 2020 collection by designer Prabal Gurung. The button down dress worked like an extended shirt dress. She accessorised her look with a pair of orange heels and for her glam, Kareena Kapoor went with sleek middle-parted hair and a subtle makeup look.
Ananya Panday seems to have taken fashion inspiration from Kareena Kapoor Khan as she wore a similar dress from the same Prabal Gurung collection. Ananya Panday's outfit was a mini shirt dress with a cinched-in waist and an asymmetrical hemline. The dress highlighted and accentuated her curves. The young diva accessorised her look with middle-parted wavy curls and just like Kareena Kapoor, she also wore orange strappy heels with the dress.
Our verdict: While Kareena and Ananya have been styled similarly with their strappy heels and no accessories, we’ll give the points to Bebo because the Prabal Gurung dress seems to fit her better.
3. Kiara Advani vs Rakul Preet Singh in glittery midi dress: Kiara Advani wore an incredibly stunning and classy black and gold-hued shimmery dress from Falguni Shane Peacock in October 2023. The off-shoulder and tube-like neckline made the dress a total smoke-show. The criss-cross glittery gold embroidery on the black dress added the perfect amount of glam. The Bollywood diva completed her dress with matching black peep-toe heels. She chose to go for an accessory-free look, letting her outfit shine on its own. Kiara further chose to tie up her dark tresses in a braid and a glamorous makeup look.
Rakul Preet Singh wore the same stunning ankle-length black and gold dress from Falguni Shane Peacock in February 2024. The off-shoulder and plunging well-sculpted neckline dress hugged her curves at all the right places, accentuating her figure. The diva chose to round off her dress with black heels with a criss-cross style and a peep-toe. She also chose to style her outfit with gold earrings and a matching statement ring. Rakul Preet Singh also carried a black and gold Jimmy Choo bag. Her makeup look with shimmery brown eyeshadow and nude lipstick perfectly elevated her ensemble.
Our verdict: We love both Kiara and Rakul Preet in this gorgeous shimmery dress. However, Kiara Advani’s choice of a bold no-accessory look stood out for us as she decided to go a minimalistic style, letting her outfit do all the talking. And don’t forget – less is more!
4. Janhvi Kapoor vs Mouni Roy in shimmery bodycon gown: Janhvi Kapoor, who will soon be seen opposite Rajkummar Rao in ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, took her love for shimmer to the next level when she attended the launch of the luxurious Jio World Plaza in November 2023. The Bollywood actress wore a blingy strapless black and grey-hued bodycon gown. The stunning gown came with a bustier style and body-flattering silhouette. She styled her stunning gown with a pair of black heels. The Bollywood actress accessorised her dress with just a unique black glittery clutch that went perfectly well with her outfit. She left her hair open in soft waves and went for a glamorous makeup look, featuring smokey eye shadow, eyeliner, kohl-lined eyes, mascara-coated lashes, beaming highlighter and nude glossy lips.
Mouni Roy had worn a strikingly similar gown in November 2022. The floor-length shimmery black gown featured a structured neckline, a strapless design, and a form-fitting silhouette that accentuated her curves. With a graceful train trailing behind her, Mouni Roy exuded confidence. The Bollywood diva only styled her stunning strapless gown with a few rings adorning her fingers. She pulled back her hair in a sleek plait. For her makeup, she went with brown eyeshadow, mascara-coated lashes, a hint of blush, and matte nude lipstick.
Our verdict: While we are obsessed with both of them in this stunning gown, we believe that this round belongs to the Gen-Z fashion queen -- Janhvi Kapoor. She was able to add a fresh vibe to the outfit with her choice of accessories, makeup look, and even her nails.
5. Vaani Kapoor vs Alia Bhatt in floral deep-neck dress: Vaani Kapoor wore a chic multi-coloured floral mini dress in January 2023. The Bollywood beauty looked equal parts glamourous and sultry, dressed in the floral bodycon dress from the shelves of luxury clothing label Magda Butrym. Vaani Kapoor ditched jewellery and styled the plunging neck dress with sheer black stockings and thigh-high black leather boots. For her makeup look, Vaani Kapoor opted for subtle smoky eye shadow, peach lip shade, winged eyeliner, and blushed and highlighted cheeks. She styled her long, shiny locks in open side-parted wavy tresses.
Though we loved how Vaani Kapoor carried the dress, it reminded us of Alia Bhatt as the Bollywood diva had donned the same attire in 2022. Alia Bhatt paired the floral Magda Butrym mini dress with a matching oversized printed blazer, featuring notch lapel collars and padded shoulders. She completed the ensemble with pointed red high-heel stilettos, statement rings, and a pair of earrings. Alia chose centre-parted open wavy locks, peach eye shadow, glazed lip shade, feathery brows, mascara-laden lashes, glowing skin, and rouged cheekbones.
Our verdict: It is difficult to judge who wore it better as both the divas gave their own spin and managed to ooze oomph in the dress. While Alia Bhatt’s way of styling made the mini dress appealing to wear for any official event, Vaani Kapoor’s way made it a perfect fit for parties.
6. Kriti Sanon vs Anushka Sharma in same gown but different colours: This one has to be one of the most interesting Bollywood fashion face-offs. Wondering why? Well, Anushka Sharma and Kriti Sanon wore the same Richard Quinn gowns on the same day, at different events. And that is a fashion coincidence we did not see coming! For an awards night, Kriti Sanon slipped into a gorgeous black and white Richard Quinn gown, which featured ruffle detailing across a strapless neckline. It also featured white floral embroidery adorned with white sequins against the black backdrop running on the form-fitting silhouette. Kriti Sanon styled the outfit with a pair of small hoop earrings and black heels. She opted for a bold, thick winged eyeliner with dewy skin, a hint of blush and nude lips. Kriti’s tresses were secured in a sleek bun hairdo.
Anushka Sharma wore the same gown when she made her Cannes Film Festival debut in May 2023. Anushka looked elegant in a stunning Richard Quinn off-white creation. Just like Kriti Sanon, Anushka Sharma's ensemble also showcased a dramatic ruffled neckline. It was followed by a checked sequinned design running on the mermaid-cut silhouette. The actress added a pair of diamond earrings and a statement ring, which added a subtle hint of glam. Anushka Sharma took a minimalistic route for her hair and makeup as she opted for glass skin, with a subtle blush and highlighter. She further sported a pink lip shade and tied her hair in a neat bun.
Our verdict: We certainly don’t mind such epic fashion coincidences in the world of showbiz. And definitely love both these looks equally, but Anushka Sharma’s outfit just looks a tad bit better, thanks to the jewellery and styling.
7. Samantha Ruth Prabhu vs Priyanka Chopra in creamy white backless dress: Remember the Jacquemus dress that supermodel Gigi Hadid wore at the 2020 Jacquemus Paris Fashion Week show and took the internet by storm with her hair flip moment to show off the backless design? Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore the same dress in July 2021. Well, the iconic dress found a place in Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s closet as well. The creamy white dress featured a plunging neckline with an overlapping flap, barely-there straps, a gathered design with a figure-flattering silhouette, a side thigh-high slit and a daring backless design. The Indian beauty chose a layered gold necklace with dainty pendants and earrings. She chose side-parted open wavy locks and a soft makeup look.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore the dress with strappy gold high heels, a gold watch, gold rings, a bracelet, a sleek gold chain, and large gold hoop earrings. She tied her locks in a top knot and chose a berry-toned matte lip shade with a dewy face, sleek eyeliner, and beaming highlighter.
Our verdict: While it’s tough to pick a winner, we have to give this round to PeeCee. Priyanka Chopra’s choice of gold-toned accessories added just the right amount of glam to the minimalistic white dress.
