SYNOPSIS

The 1987 Bollywood blockbuster Khudgarz is an action-drama that marked the directorial debut of veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan. Loosely based on Jeffrey Archer's famous novel Kane and Abel, it became a massive commercial hit and established a long-standing tradition for the director to title all his subsequent movies starting with the letter "K".

Synopsis
The story revolves around two childhood friends, Amar (Jeetendra) and Bihari (Shatrughan Sinha), who come from completely opposite social classes. Amar is the son of a wealthy, often absent businessman, while Bihari comes from a poor family. Despite their stark financial differences, they grow up like brothers after Bihari’s mother, Sita, raises them together with equal love.

As adults, their unbreakable bond is put to the test when they marry. Amar marries a wealthy woman, Jaya, while Bihari marries a simple labourer. The primary conflict arises when Amar's capitalist father, Brij Bhushan Saxena, returns. Strongly disapproving of his son's lower-class association, he collaborates with devious business partners to create massive misunderstandings over a valuable plot of land.

Bihari faces intense humiliation, blames Amar for his ruin, and vows to destroy his former friend at all costs. The secondary plot follows their children, Kumar (Govinda) and Jyoti (Neelam), who unknowingly fall in love. The narrative follows whether the next generation can bridge the deep-seated hatred and repair the fractured brotherhood.
