The wait is finally over for Mirzapur fans. After building anticipation with a teaser, the makers recently unveiled the trailer for ‘Mirzapur The Movie’, offering an extended first look at the chaos, rivalry, and violence that will define the franchise’s big-screen outing. The trailer makes it clear that the transition from streaming to cinema will come with a significant scale upgrade. This time, the battle for control appears more intense, with Guddu Bhaiya and Munna Bhaiya once again at the centre of a dangerous power struggle.

The latest preview teases a clash between rival forces as the fight for dominance in Mirzapur reaches a new level. Alliances are tested, tempers flare, and the threat of violence hangs over almost every confrontation. At the heart of the story are Ali Fazal's Guddu and Divyenndu's Munna, two characters whose rivalry has become synonymous with the ‘Mirzapur’ universe.
Alongside Ali Fazal (Guddu) and Divyenndu (Munna), the film features Pankaj Tripathi, Jitendra Kumar, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi and Sonal S Chauhan, among others. ‘Mirzapur The Movie’ is directed by Gurmmeet Singh, with the screenplay penned by Puneet Krishna. The project marks a collaboration between Amazon, MGM Studios, and Excel Entertainment. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar have produced the film under the Excel Entertainment banner, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serving as co-producers.

Based on Vikram Chandra's novel, the Netflix crime thriller brought together Saif Ali Khan's police officer Sartaj Singh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui's gangster Ganesh Gaitonde. The first major web series to come out of India saw Saif's Sartaj investigating a mysterious warning from Gaitonde, which leads him into a much larger conspiracy.
The series moves between different timelines while exploring crime, politics, religion and Mumbai's underworld. Nawazuddin Siddiqui's portrayal of Gaitonde became particularly memorable, while Saif Ali Khan brought a more restrained intensity to Sartaj. ‘Sacred Games’ remains an important title for viewers interested in ambitious Indian crime dramas. The show lasted for two seasons, and fans came to appreciate the storytelling of Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.
2. Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (SonyLiv)
‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ remains one of the most compelling Indian financial dramas made for streaming. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the SonyLIV series chronicles the spectacular rise and eventual downfall of stockbroker Harshad Mehta, played brilliantly by Pratik Gandhi. The contrast between these two sides of his life creates much of the show's humour and emotional appeal. Manoj Bajpayee's performance gives Srikant plenty of personality without turning him into a conventional action hero.
4. Panchayat (Prime Video)
Few Indian web series have captured the charm of small-town India quite like ‘Panchayat’. The Amazon Prime Video series follows Abhishek Tripathi, a young graduate who reluctantly takes up the position of panchayat secretary in the fictional village of Phulera. Jitendra Kumar leads the show, while Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Chandan Roy and Faisal Malik form an immensely entertaining ensemble. What makes ‘Panchayat’ special is its understated storytelling.
Rather than relying on dramatic twists, the series finds humour and emotion in village politics, everyday disagreements and relationships between ordinary people.
5. Paatal Lok (Prime Video)
‘Paatal Lok’ is a gripping crime drama that gradually evolves into a broader examination of Indian society. The series follows Delhi police officer Hathiram Chaudhary, played by Jaideep Ahlawat, who is assigned to investigate an attempted assassination. What initially appears to be a straightforward case becomes increasingly complicated as the investigation exposes connections involving criminals, politicians, the media and people from vastly different social backgrounds.
Jaideep Ahlawat's performance gives the series a powerful emotional centre, portraying Hathiram as a flawed but determined police officer. The show’s writing also explores class, caste, privilege and prejudice without reducing its characters to simple stereotypes.
6. Rocket Boys (SonyLiv)
India’s scientific history was brought to the screen through the lives of two pioneering figures, Homi J. Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai, in this amazing show. Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh headline the SonyLIV series, portraying the scientists as ambitious individuals rather than simply historical names. The show explores their friendship, professional disagreements and determination to develop India's scientific institutions during the early years of the country's independence.
Alongside the personal drama, it offers an accessible introduction to the development of India's nuclear and space programmes. The period setting and performances enhance the show's appeal, while its emphasis on ambition and nation-building lends the story a broader emotional scale.
7. Delhi Crime (Netflix)
Unlike the high-pitched tone often seen in crime dramas on the big screen, ‘Delhi Crime’ took a more restrained approach to crime storytelling, focusing on the investigation. Shefali Shah leads the series as police officer Vartika Chaturvedi, bringing authority and emotional depth to the character. The first season follows investigators as they attempt to solve a brutal rape case while facing immense pressure from the public, media and their own institution. The first season of ‘Delhi Crime’ was also nominated for International Emmys.

8. Asur (JioHotstar)
‘Asur’ blends mythology, psychology and crime investigation to create a thriller with a distinctly unsettling atmosphere. The series follows forensic expert Nikhil Nair, played by Barun Sobti, and police officer Dhananjay Rajpoot, portrayed by Arshad Warsi, as they pursue a mysterious killer who appears to draw inspiration from Indian mythology.
What begins as a conventional investigation gradually becomes a much more complex battle involving human behaviour, belief and the darker side of the mind. The show's biggest strength is its ability to maintain suspense.
9. Farzi (Prime Video)
‘Farzi’ puts a clever spin on the crime thriller by centring its story on counterfeit currency and an artist who discovers his talent can be used for something far more dangerous. Shahid Kapoor plays Sunny, a gifted yet financially struggling artist who becomes entangled in the world of counterfeit currency. Vijay Sethupathi plays Michael Vedanayagam, a determined law-enforcement officer attempting to stop the network behind the operation.
Created by Raj & DK, the Prime Video series balances crime, humour and action while giving considerable attention to its characters’ motivations. The second season is underway, as the makers are currently shooting it.
10. Kohrra (Netflix)
‘Kohrra’ is a gripping crime drama that combines a murder investigation with an intimate look at the lives of the police officers handling it. Set in Punjab, the Netflix series begins with the death of an NRI groom just days before his wedding, prompting police officers Balbir Singh and Amarpal Garundi to investigate. Suvinder Vicky and Barun Sobti bring contrasting personalities to the central detective duo, giving the investigation both tension and emotional depth.
