T20 World Cup Final 2026: Shah Rukh Khan, Jr NTR, Anushka Sharma And More Celebrate India's Historic Win
Shah Rukh Khan, Jr NTR, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal and several other celebrities took to social media to cheer for Team India after they won the T20 World Cup title.
Cheers and widespread celebrations have swept across the nation as the Men in Blue lifted their second consecutive – and third overall – T20 World Cup trophy in spectacular fashion on Sunday. In a high-stakes final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Suryakumar Yadav’s India crushed New Zealand by 96 runs. The victory marks a historic milestone, making India the first team to successfully defend a men’s T20 World Cup title and win on home soil, adding to their previous triumphs in 2007 and 2024.
As the country erupted in pride, the film industry's biggest stars took to social media to join the digital victory parade, with Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Akshay Kumar and Vicky Kaushal leading the applause.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise the team, writing: “What a comprehensive victory!! Well done to our men in blue!!! You guys are champions and watching you on the field has made us all very proud. Take a bow. Jai Hind!”

The celebrations crossed regional lines, with South Indian superstars joining the chorus. Jr NTR commended the team's temperament, writing, “This is how our Men in Blue showed up with calm, composure and dominance throughout the tournament … and brought the trophy home again and created history… Congratulations Team India. The nation will sleep well tonight.”

Mahesh Babu was equally thrilled, posting on X: “What was that!!! A magnificent testimony to Team India’s dominance unleashing full beast mode to bring it home for 1.4 billion hearts…Exemplary performances from Samson, Abhishek, Ishan, Dube , Bumrah, Axar and everyone who made this unforgettable…. Congratulations Team India… History keeps turning its pages with glory for the nation.”
Sidharth Malhotra praised the spectacular win, while a host of other leading stars – including Kareena Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Parineeti Chopra, and Wamiqa Gabbi – also showered love on the team to commemorate the memorable victory.
India entirely bossed the final contest. Batting first, the team hammered a massive 255 runs onto the board, fuelled by explosive half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson.
The bowling attack was equally lethal. Jasprit Bumrah took four crucial wickets, while Axar Patel chipped in with three, bundling New Zealand out for just 159 runs. For his devastating spell, Bumrah was named Player of the Match. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson was crowned Player of the Tournament following a phenomenal campaign that saw him amass 321 runs across five matches.
The massive win was heavily symbolic, breaking two major hoodoos for Team India. Not only was it their first-ever victory over New Zealand in a Men's T20 World Cup match, but it also shattered the Ahmedabad curse. India had previously suffered their last two ICC white-ball defeats at the Narendra Modi Stadium – the heartbreaking 2023 ODI World Cup final loss to Australia and a Super Eights defeat to South Africa earlier in this very tournament.
Adding an emotional touch to the historic night, India's former T20 World Cup-winning captains, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, were both in attendance to witness Suryakumar Yadav lift the 2026 trophy, marking a perfect full-circle moment for Indian cricket.
