"Not Here": Virat Kohli Shocked At Being Called "Chokli" During Practice In Sri Lanka. Watch
Virat Kohli was shadow-practicing inside a room, and it was then that fans started chanting "chokli chokli."
Virat Kohli is arguably the greatest batter India has produced after ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar. The right-handed batter recently announced his retirement from T20Is, after India won the T20 World Cup in June 2024. Virat Kohli will now be seen in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, set to begin on Friday, August 2. In the latest entertainment news, Virat Kohli was left visibly upset and shocked when a fan called him "chokli" when he was shadow practicing in a room filled with his teammates.
In the video, Virat Kohli can be seen practicing his shots, and it was then that a fan burst into "chokli-chokli" chants. It immediately caught the attention of the former India captain.
Virat Kohli instantly snapped at the fan, and judging by the looks on his face, he wasn't pleased.
"Not here," said Kohli towards the end of the video.

For the unversed, 'chokli' is an insult directed at Kohli by trolls on social media. The term combines Virat's surname Kohli and 'choking'. The words stems from trolls' beliefs that Kohli fails in big, knockout matches for India.
The term 'chokli' first surfaced on social media after India lost the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. In the match, the then-India skipper scored just 1 run.
This was the first time that Kohli failed to score in double digits in an ICC knockout match. For the uninitiated, he scored 1 run in the 2015 World Cup semi-final against Australia and then registered the same score against Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy final.
Talking about Virat Kohli, he landed in Sri Lanka on Monday morning for the upcoming ODI series.
After winning the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli decided to spend some quality time with his wife Anushka Sharma, and children Vamika and Akaay in London.
Now having given up on the T20Is for India, Kohli is expected to play all the Tests and ODIs for India. Since Champions Trophy is slated to be held in 2025, Kohli would look to get back in the groove in ODIs, where he holds the record for scoring the most number of centuries.
Kohli had broken the record of Sachin Tendulkar during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
